A rental middle-6 forward, a potential bust who has yet to make the team after three training camps, and a future first -- if that's all that 5 years of John Gibson is worth, why do you want him? Better to take your chances with Jack Campbell for $5 million and buy out Mrazek.

That’s fine but your probably not trading him then because Edmonton and Toronto can’t afford to pay an inconsistent goalie that kind of money.

Like I explained Kerfoot would be flipped for a 2nd or something, so the way I see it it’s a 1st, and 2nd and a prospect who was point per game in the AHL and 20 years old. Gibson has one of the highest upsides of any goalie in the NHL, that’s why the leafs are interested. His value isn’t more because he’s been mediocre for three years and is signed til he’s like 35.

A rental like Kerfoot is of no practical use to a rebuilding team that won't sniff the playoffs in 2023. By draft day next June, that return could be no player on the roster in exchange for 5 years of John Gibson, and no player on the roster until the late-first draft pick matures into an actual NHLer, if ever, or Robertson matures into an actual NHLer, if ever.

Just for comparison, an article in The Athletic I read yesterday put his trade value, coupled with our 2022 first-round draft pick, as New Jersey's second-overall pick and Mackenzie Blackwood. I'm not saying that New Jersey is going to make that offer nor that Anaheim is interested in trading him, but compare that to your offer.

That’s fine with us. We don’t have a need to deal him

If a team wants him, they have to pay though — he isn’t goi by to be dealt for nothing

I’ve heard reports that Anaheim is trying to move him, which would make sense this offseason because his trade value is still high but it is going down fast, and there are tons of teams who need a goalie. Now if the asking price is as high as you say it is, there is absolutely no chance Gibson is moved. Guess we’ll move on
