Brown with retention is gonna be significantly less AAV than Puljujarvi, and Puljujarvi is most definitely not better than Brown right now. Brown has a really complete 200-foot game and is a high-end penalty killer and still scores at a 50-point pace despite playing most of his time on the penalty kill or in the Sens middle 6 with like, Chris Tierney. Puljujarvi hasn’t cleared 40 points while playing with Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl. Kassian and his contract are negative value. Sens definitely aren’t giving up the better player and taking on a cap dump, and then adding the sweetener too
