I think that Walker's value is somewhere around a second-half second and first-half third, so this offer just isn't quite what we're looking for or likely to get. But thanks for the offer.

Imo if you’re going to roll MAF you might as well go all in and go Frankie as the starter and get someone like Bernier or even *gulp* Holtby as a price controlled 1B/2, if Frankie can handle it score!

I have said it before, but I don’t think that Walker is a good fit for the Avs.

He’s coming off of a major knee injury and we have yet to see how he recovers as a player. He’s entirely been leapfrogged by other RHD in the LA system. And at a $2.65M cap hit for 2 seasons, he’s not super cheap considering the role he would play (likely bottom pairing with a top 4 of Makar/Toews/Byram/Girard). That extra year is really rough too, the Avs need every penny they can get for the upcoming MacKinnon/Byram/Newhook extensions.

To me, there’s just too much risk here. He could be a great player for another team, but I think that this would not be a smart move for the Avs. They’re very likely going to find a cheap bottom pairing PK guy instead without giving up any assets.

I don't think he's been leapfrogged. He has just been made expendable.

The Kings would rather run with Durzi at $1.25M or Spence at $820k than Walker at $2.65M, especially since they're trying to fill in other gaps in the roster. Walker is a better player than both of them though at this point though. With Doughty and Roy both in the system, Walker is a luxury they can't afford.

By leapfrogged, I meant that 21 and a 23 year old prospects took his place in the lineup. Expendable might be a better word for it.

At his cap hit and with the number of question marks, I don’t think it’s a move for the Avs. Seems to be a perfectly reasonable move for another team without blue line depth.

I really do wonder how he recovers though. Major knee surgeries are no joke. If he lost a step at all, it could be tough to resolidify a role in the NHL.

Rasmus Kupari had the exact same injury a couple years ago in the WJC, and he came out of it just fine. If Walker were 35, I'd be worried about his return. All reports from the team have been positive thus far, and they expect him to make a full recovery.

This might be a Tarasenko situation where he needs to play for a season or so to show that he still has it before the Kings can trade him. I wouldn't be surprised if they play him on the left side next season.

I checked hfboards and a few other AGM threads to get a sense for what fans expect for Walker. Most seemed to point to a 3rd. Anyhow it's semantics, maybe add a late pick of prospect to balance.
