I only know who this is as some Stars fans think him an acceptable return for Tyson Barrie.

That's because he is. Barrie is a defenseman that can't play defense. AND I'm not even a Stars fan. Like at all

yes that is true but at the same time a PPQB who can easily put up 40 points in the right scenario is worth a lot more then a 4/5 AHL dman

Not when you can find those guys for $2M. Erik Gustafsson is a PP specialist, but can't find work. It's because he's bad a defense and he's equally bad as Barrie

What an absolutely freezing take. Gustafsson doesn't have the handedness Barrie does, which matters a lot more than you're exemplifying here. I'd wager you also think the only reason he produces is because he plays with Draisaitl/McDavid?

The only time Barrie has been objectively bad at defense was when Babcock couldn't figure out how to optimize Toronto's roster. Beyond that he's serviceable. Overpaid by maybe a solid $1M but he's very much a commodity that teams will want this offseason. His value is much, much closer to a second round pick than a depth AHL piece. What a preposterous notion.

You don't have any bias...right??? Just you saying he's overpaid...I appreciate you admitting it...means he's not worth his contract.

There was a very valid argument that Draiasitl was overpaid by about as much when he signed his extention. Does that mean he wasn't worth his contract? Does that mean Draisaitl- until he reached his current status - was a valueless asset in the NHL?

The extent some people's kids will go to defend an irrational position I swear.

Look at what the rumored ask for Petry is and look at how my valuation of a second for Barrie compares. Cheaper, younger, less term, not as great defensively. It's more than reasonable. Check your own biases.

I don't follow the Draisaitl/Barrie comp. That's some 4D chess right there. Dri as a 21 year old #3OA pick vs a 29 year old "established" player. I'm a Hawks fan. What bias against Barrie do I have? I just don't want Barrie on my team. YOU said he was overpaid by a solid $1M. It's not like there's another gear as a 31 year old that he's going to fine. So by YOUR words...you're dumping $1M in cap on to another team. aka...cap dump. So what YOU said is that he's worth Ryan Shea. It's just your EDM bias that doesn't allow you to see the forest through the trees.

If Barrie wasn't overpaid, he'd be worth more than a first. Overpaid by a touch and now he's worthless? How ridiculous. That's precisely what the Draisaitl comparison was intended to highlight: the way you devalue a player because of a $1M overpay is objectively stupid.

Glad you don't want Barrie on your team but you had absolutely no horse in this race to begin with and all you've done is troll since posting. Maybe lay off it a touch yeah?

Just stating my opinion...which you're agreed Stars fans have also concluded...he's worth Ryan Shea. I could be mean and suggest he's equal to a 51 point guy names Ghost, but maybe that's just too realistic because he was literally a cap dump and sent AZ a 2nd round pick.

When multiple fan bases agree on the value of your player. They're probably right.
