I'd prefer to see a good young prospect and/or a 2nd round draft pick in return for Barrie. I like Fast, but it makes more sense to me that the Oilers move that contract without bringing one back; the extra cap space makes room for other moves. Given that the Oilers don't have a second, third, or fourth round pick at this year's draft, that extra cap space should go toward a different goaltender. Merzlikins would be nice to have in Edmonton, but I think there are more suitable options.
With respect to moving JP, it seems that will be dependent on whether Holland feels his contract demands are reasonable. I think the Oilers would like to keep Puljujarvi, and I wonder what a 3rd line consisting of McLeod, Puljujarvi, and Holloway might do. McLeod looks like he might be ready to provide more offense, Holloway has speed, size, and skill that might see him quickly surpass Foegele, and Puljujarvi may show more of his potential next season. Still, I don't think there is need to panic about potentially losing JP. The Oilers like his game and covet his potential, but they need more than he has provided them so far.
