Retain half on Anderson and maybe there is a deal. But that is steep price for a player who has 1 40 point season and makes 5.5 mil.

Andrew Ladd 2.0 written all over Anderson and I want nothing to do with him if I were the Islanders.

I see that you acquired PLD via offersheet I guess, but the Jets would have matched that the second it was signed.

I'm wondering if what might make sense is for the Habs to draft Slaf at 1OA. Trade Anderson for the Islanders pick and then flip that pick + to the Jets for PLD.

Then you have Suzuki + PLD as long term fixtures at C and then elite wingers is Slaf and Caufield to pair with them.

I was thinking PLD for 13OA + Barron. Jets could take a contract back if they had to but would prefer not to.

Anthony Beauvillier the last two seasons: 122 games, 27 goals, 62 points
Josh Anderson the last two seasons: 121 games, 36 goals, 56 points

difference between #13 (Islanders first) and #62 (Oilers second) = 49 places

by this yardstick, Beauvillier plus the Islanders third = the Calgary first (#26 being worth substantially less than #13)

Maybe. Ask Detroit how that Trouba signing worked out for them.

Also, you can adjust the year the roster is for if that is what you were doing here. Then you wouldn't have had to IR all those guys as their contracts would just be gone.

Hagelin is a cap dump if he cannot return to play after his pretty bad eye injury. The value on the caps trade you made is fine, if not slanted towards the caps. I do not see them moving their first, however, if they are not getting an established top 6 option in return. Dvorak imo proved that he cannot be a 2c on a cup contending team. He would be a really good 3c, but between McMichael and Eller the caps are fine there. Dadonov at 2.5m would definitely be a nice pickup though. Feel like a more simplified deal just centering around Dadonov would make more sense, and that the caps want to explore their many options most likely after the draft.

Islanders never take this trade. Nobody is giving up a premium asset for a one time 20 goalscorer with 5 years at 5.5 left. Especially not the isles, who have a million dudes who can produce the same with the same cap hit.
