Dubois rumours

Équipe: 2022-23 Canadiens de Montréal
Date de création initiale: 28 juin 2022
Publié: 28 juin 2022
Mode - plafond salarial: Basique
Description
Addressing the Dubois rumours that he may do a Tavares come 2024. Would Winnipeg trade him out to get a return from Habs now or wait until he goes UFA? Just a speculation..

As for Letang and Fleury signings… well.. I call these long shots but given the relationship they have with our GM… could it happen??? Especially if Price is out again.

No, Montreal fans, Detroit was never in on Petry, it was a rumor cooked up by Montreal media and Detroit has zero interest. It's clickbait garbage and there is ZERO fit for him in Detroit.

Not a fan of bringing Dubois in at all. Just wait two years and by then the Habs will have elite youth to sell him on signing as a FA

Not to say that PLD isn't a good player and you obviously don't want to force Shane Wright into the top 6 right away but with Suzuki and Wright being with the team for a long time do the Habs need him? I wonder if they'd want to look to find a #2-3 C on a shorter 2-3 year contract to help shelter Wright until he's ready for top 6 minutes? Could they get that person in free agency without selling the farm?

Too much quantity not enough quality

Dubois, Svech for Guhle, Dvorak, Poehling, MTL's 2023 1st (Top 5 Protected) MTL 2023 3rd Round pick would be a lot closer

Just going to break this down as gently as possible, with zero intention of being rude...

-WIN get one of the best 2nd goalies in the league (He'll be 32 when the season starts, and has been below league average 4 of the past 5 seasons)
-Dvorak to provide them with a 2nd centerman (Do we reallllly think he's still a 2C, or is he just a 3C that can play up a bit *IF* needed?)
-Armia who’s a great leader and provides offense (Citing leadership and offence when a guy just put up 14 pts in 60 games for a team that went from being pretty good to really bad seems weird...)
-Pezzetta who’s a good depth player (Pezzatta is a dime a dozen 13th forward/waiver candidate)
-Brooks to provide depth between AHL and NHL (Brook is a 23 year old who played a total of 19 games this year, including 13 in the ECHL. To say that he's ready to play in the NHL is a bittttt weird)
-and 3 picks, including a first round (Late 1st, late 2nd, late 3rd =Quantity)

Just a speculation on IF Win would want to move now. He’s TFA so they may look to sign him more than 5 and he may not. So this speculation would give both team what they need without losing too much on Win side.

Yeah because Detroit want Stall and DeKEYSER for the next years… Petry is a damn good Dman. He had one bad year as the family situation hit him hard. The only reason Habs would consider moving him is to give him a better family situation. You may think he’s not a fit, but that shows how you don’t know the players… He’ll be a huge loss for Habs. Detroit would get better by having him in the locker room and helping the blue line move the puck more.

Petry is a RHD, that is not a position of need. It just goes to show that you are tunnel visioned by your own team and ignoring other teams needs, to fit your narrative. Rebuilding teams do not add aging vets with term. It makes ZERO sense.

Petry's wife is from Houston and Klingberg is likely to leave, so Dallas is a MUCH more likely fit.

Stop trying to jam a square peg in a round hole, because some guy had a deadline and made up a headline in a market where **** picks up steam rolling downhill.

Just from the Wings view....they would prefer 6.25m in cap space and the two picks rather than Petry. Silly to bring Staal and DeKeyser in the conversation....they are LHD, and Wings have lots of young RHD.
Now if want to "gift" Petry to Wings without compensation...then maybe the Wings consider it. That would give Montreal 6.25m to put towards Letang.

No offense but if that is the price then Montreal passes quite easily and we sign him in 2 years when we are closer to contending and know where our center depth stands.

As a Habs fan here, No Thank you to PLD, anyone who complained and wanted to be traded, then tells his current team he intends to go to UFA, has issues and is all about self, we have that kind of Prima Dona in Drouin. That is not to say I dont think PLD is any good, Drouin has loads of talent and skill, but Attitude is terrible and NOT what montreal needs on a rebuilding team. Thanks but not Thanks for PLD,
As Much as I love Fleury, no Thank you and we do NOT NEED Kris LEtang, maybe 5 yrs ago but now.

And thats completely fine, but realistically unless Winnipeg gets a deal like that or better they're gonna sign him for 1 year and revisit the conversation next summer and try and sign him long term and if his stance hasn't changed then its the time to trade him. This is really a next year problem unless there's an offer too good to pass up. That's personally how i see the situation unfolding.

I agree, that is the most likely scenario for both him and the Jets. I mean it makes sense for the Jets to ask for all that but it just doesn't make sense for the Habs to agree to it right now lol.

Dubois' stance isn't changing, Jets need a culture change and keeping a guy around who's made his intentions public can't be good for the room, he needs to go sooner than later.

They need to depart from the Wheeler/Scheifele era and go in to the Connor, Ehlers, Dubois era and thats the thing that Jets management should be selling him on. He's captain material and can be the guy the team needs to make him believe that. in 1 year, with Wheeler who's gonna be gone this summer, to do that then you either blow it up or make that transition with Scheife gone most likely after this year.

Come on, you really think he's still "captain material" after his announcement?!!!... lol 😆 🤣

This is the second team he's quit on, he isn't captain material and definitely not a potential captain for the Jets.

He hasn't quit on the Jets he's stated that he would like to test free agency. For all we know it could be a negotiation tactic. Jets could have offered him a crap long term deal and he's putting the fear in them. Bottom line is they have 2 years of control and it doesn't truly need to be addressed until next summer, and as for Captain material, putting that aside, the way he plays hard, with an edge and battling. Yes that embodies what a captain should be, doesn't dog it, always playing hard. Regardless of what happened in Columbus that last year, he's proved and redeemed himself with his showing this year.

Winnipeg isn't trading Dubois for cap dumps and marginal value players. They easily get better value trading him at the TDL in two years as a rental.

Just wondering, has there ever in the history of the NHL been a trade that involved 8 assets being moved for a single player?
