I don't love it to be honest but with all the talented forwards potentially available I wonder if something like this is the most we'll get. I'd rather have Jost than Zacha though if I'm being honest.

Interesting. Honestly, I wouldn’t mind dropping Jost from the deal in place of a D prospect. Any thoughts who that could be

We’re pretty set on d prospects TBH. Could maybe use another RHD prospect, but Addison is waiting in the wings so we don’t really have room at the NHL level for one that’s ready now. That’s why I’d rather have Thompson.

I meant dropping Jost from the deal and the Wild adding a D prospect in his place. And yes, I’d be willing to move Thompson

If the Devil's want a D prospect on top of Fiala, then they better be dealing the 2nd Overall in exchange for both. Because the Wild aren't moving any of them if the posted return is what's coming back.

If it was strictly Fiala and one of Hunt/O'Rourke/Addison for 2nd overall alone. We probably do it. Otherwise there is no incentive for us to be adding.

I’d also be fine with that. I’d do Gritsyuk, Thompson, and 2023 1st for Fiala

If it's a D prospect instead of Jost I think we pass. Zacha would just be an expensive 4th liner for us. Just drop those two from the deal entirely.

No way I add the 2nd round pick.

Fiala and O'Rourke is more than enough for 2nd Overall.

Besides, I would prefer to move Hunt or Peart before O'Rourke. He's our meanest D-prospect, a team leader type guy, and was named to the OHL All-star team this year.

Both Lambos and Addison should be untouchable.

I read it here already, and I don't have issues with it. It's fine in a vacuum. But don't expect anything better than top 5 or top 7 protection on the 1st.

And I’m loathe to say top 7 as it is, but adding Gritsyuk does push it in that direction. Even if I think he's being overrated by Devils fans.

It's interesting you have your rankings basically as:
1. Lambos
2. Addison
3. O'Rourke
4. Hunt
5. Peart

I've got:
1. Lambos
2. Peart
3. O'Rourke
4. Addison
5. Hunt

Anyways, I consider throwing in a 2nd round pick to Fiala and O'Rourke if it lands us that elusive future top line center.

Well it's based on preference and overall team need.

1) Lambos is the best d-prospect we have, hands down. He was also my number one defenseman target in last years draft. The fact we got got both him and Wallstedt in the 20's is absolute grand theft larceny by Brackett.

2) Addison is our only RHD prospect with top 4 upside. It's not only the most valuable prospect outside of center prospects but all of O'Rourke, Hunt, and Peart only have 2nd pairing upside as well as are all LHD defenseman.

That's why I rate Addison higher.

3) As I already stated before O'Rourke is our d-prospect with the most snarl or is the meanest of the bunch. Which is something the teams lacks and desperately needs on the back-end. He was already extremely solid and looked right at home in the AHL two season ago during the covid shutdowns of the CHL forced him to play there. But Guerin sent him back to the Canadian juniors to work on his offensive game, so he would become a better two-way player in the future. That gamble payed off, as again he was named to the OHL All-star team this year.

4) Hunt and Peart are more or less interchangeable, but I value Hunt's size and physicality over Peart. Whose another Spurgeon/Addison type puck-moving defenseman. I do love that both of them can play their off-hand side though.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't O'Rourke have to go back to Juniors due to his age (not AHL eligible)? When Wheeler did his team prospect rankings he put O'Rourke at #10 on Minnesota (behind Lambos #4, Addison #5, and Peart #7). In his description he ends it with "He’s not going to run a power play at the next level but I see rugged two-way value and third-pairing upside."

If we are trusting Brackett through and through, he was quoted last draft saying the Wild's first three picks (Wallstedt, Lambos, and Peart) were all top 20 on their big board.

If Addison can't become a regular on the team this year then I think he's gone.

No, Guerin is directly quoted as saying that he wanted O'Rourke to go back to the OHL because he wanted him to develop his offensive side more to better fit with the two-way player they envision him to be.

And typically, you'd be right about CHL players under 20 having to play there or going back to it. But both the CHL and NHL came to an agreement during the CBA changes in 2020 where an exception was put into place that those NHL drafted CHL players that played more than 20 games in the AHL during the CHL shutdown could remain on their AHL teams for the 21-22 season at the discretion of their NHL clubs.

At 33 games, O'Rourke more than qualified for that exception. He could of remained in Iowa had Guerin wished it. Instead he chose to send him back to the OHL.

Interesting! I did not know that.

I wonder if O'Rourke gets a shot to make the NHL team out of camp. I remember reading that he was playing on the right side from someone on here. If so, I think he makes the team before Addison does.
