Description

Recent reports that the pens and letang aren’t close on $ (mark madden)
Also Friedman says they’re at least 1.25M apart
Also heard (don’t remember source) pens last offer was 4 years and just under 7.25…
So letang is basically asking for 5x8.6 or something
(Miri heiskanen comparable)?!
I say forget it I’m not paying him…I’d rather have a patchwork defense of 6 #2-#5 guys with balance and just a lil speed and puck moving
The Avs just won the cup with jack Johnson on their first paring so if we stack our forwards I think we can make it work

Random thought—if they can’t sign letang they’ll probably sign geno just so they don’t lose both which is stupid but obviously they care more about selling tickets and geno jerseys than winning now

you might want to look at jack johnson icetime during the cup run. the guy was playing about 8 min a night... clearly not on first pair.

Husso is the 1B to Jarry but also Jarry insurance if Jarry gets letang syndrome and wants to much $$$

Maniscalco has yet to prove he belongs in the AHL and Broz struggled in his first season at The University of Minnesota. Does that really seem fair? You have him in the 1st pair.

And REALISTICALLY who replaces him? Are you signing Klingberg to a similar AAV and for 6-7 years? I certainly am not in favor of that. If that doesn’t happen then are we looking for a trade to get a top pairing RHD? How do we pay for that knowing it’s going to cost everything we possibly have in the draft pick and prospect pool to even find someone?

I never have said once there is a viable letang replacement… I am proposing that the penguins might be better off spreading the wealth and getting younger and faster and more depth than giving a combined 15-18 million dollars to a couple of dudes for the next 3-5 years who are on the decline…
