Description
If Anderson wants to come back, bring him back. If he doesn’t, sign Holtby.

Holtby, Kassian, and Schultz help get you over the cap floor. Let the youth play, but have back up ready in the minors for injuries or if they need time. It’ll be a rough year again but Thompson, Tuch, Krebs are showing there’s hope up front along with Dahlin, Joki, a nice find in Samuelson and now Power.

Not super active in FA or trades. Possible they get someone else instead of Schultz or Holtby via trade (Brossoit and Barrie are options)

I dont think he should, and i dont know why he will, but i think Schultz gets more in FA. I say he signs somewhere for $3.5 mill per.

Oilers say yes.

I agree with Anderson, but I just think I'd rather him in a non playing role. He wasn't that good last year.

If a guy like Shultz wants more money then I'd try for Manson. He would be my favorite pickup for the 3rd/2nd pair RD.

This is pretty well done, switch Krebs and Cozens. Cozens is a full time center, Krebs winger. Also Top6D probably should go like this,
Samuelsson - Dahlin
Power - Joki
Bryson - Schultz(Manson)

Also one thing you missed is Victor Olofsson, Very good player who's and RFA, probably would resign him and move Okposo down from the 2nd line.

Manson would be nice, I have a weird feeling Colorado chooses to keep him among their UFAs though.

as an oilers fan this feels fair, a 2nd for 2 yrs at 3.2 mill for kassian is fine considering he can still contribute albeit not at the level of his cap hit.

He does provide good speed and physicality which we have seen players get around 2 mil for that job so its really only a 1.2 mil overpay which isnt that egregious.

I updated my message above.

Yea that's true, he would be a great keep for them but I feel I'd try and keep Naz before Manson. Sabres can pay more than the Avs as well. And he might go for money since he won already.

I forgot to sign Olofsson bc of a brain fart, that should take care of cap floor. As for your Holtby commen: .918 this year, and who is a UFA you see as better and realistically signing with Buffalo? I’m sorry but you’re not getting Fleury, Campbell, Kuemper. Maybe Husso but he’s essentially a rookie or flash in the pan right now.

Olofsson doesnt get them across the line especially if they dont sign Holtby and just go with Anderson - UPL. Cap floor is 61 mill, your not even there with a 5th line and 3 goalies lol. Sabres can out bid anyone, no reason they cant get Campbell or Kuemper. No interest in MAF, Holtby is insanely inconsistent and was in a backup role, 12 of his starts were against non playoff teams with 7 wins, of which accounted for 70% of his wins

Ok so some guys I signed get more money. I’m not going to sit here and try and bother to convince you that there’s more reasons than money a top free agent goalie won’t sign in Buffalo with many other teams who offer a better chance to win and get paid will be there too (Toronto, Edmonton, Dallas, Minnesota). I feel like you’re taking it as an insult to the Sabres when it’s not at all. They just aren’t the team to go sign a 32 year old Kuemper who just won the cup with a team that will want to keep him

Anderson missed 38 games, nearly half the season. Anderson was on pace to play 57 games, in his 31 games he won 17. if he played 57 games and won at the same rate of .55, he would have won 31 games or 62 points. that is 28 points theoretically dropped by Buffalo, due to Anderson being injured. 75 + 28 = 103, which would have put Buffalo in a playoff spot. These are theoretical and non-contextual, but not unreasonable numbers and context adds more weight, when you have Malcolm Subban, Aaron Dell and Tokarski dropping games to DET and Seattle that would have been easy wins and the Sabres only had 8 wins in Anderson's absence. The Sabres are a decent goalie away from a playoff spot. They will give the top goalies a chance to win

If you think the Sabres as constructed this year were one Kuemper away from beating out Florida Toronto Tampa Boston Carolina NYR PIT and WSH….best chance was maybe WSH but still they have Ovi and that core.

with Anderson all year they would have finished close to or ahead of Washington. If they had Kuemper they would have been ahead of Pitt

??? But Kuemper was on Colorado??? What are you even saying now? That they should’ve outbid them for the trade?

You didn’t embarrass yourself at all here

There’s definitely some mistakes made here….
Examples:
Samuelsson on pair3 instead of with Dahlin, and Bryson on pair 2
Peterka not on the team
And a few others

But nothing egregious
It’s probably closer to what will actually happen than many Sabres fans (on here at least) wild hopes/expectations

Decent job dude

Thanks! It’s hard for me to know most lines unless it’s my team so I always apologize or don’t mess with it much. JJP I wasn’t sure about but I figured one of him and Quinn makes it and the other doesnf

Like i said, nothing too major

As of now, projected lineup looks something like:

Skinner-Thompson-Olofsson/Tuch
Mittelstadt-Cozens-Tuch/Olofsson
Quinn-Krebs-Peterka
Asplund-Girgensons-Okposo
*Olofsson &/or Mittelstadt could be traded, but not likely
*it’s possible that both Quinn & Peterka don’t make the lineup, but that would mean we brought in a top6 forward or 4C. Both of the kids certainly seem ready to get their shot with us

Samuelsson-Dahlin
Power-Jokiharju
Bryson-Fitzgerald
*we likely will bring in at least 1 defenseman who could slot into the lineup on the 2nd or 3rd pair somewhere

And we have no NHL goalies except maybe Luukkonen,
so we definitely have work to do in that area as well
