Description
Not saying the other teams should do these deals, in fact I think most of these deals would be dumb for the other teams, I’m just going off actual rumours (not speculation) that have been circulated online by insiders and people with sources.

Détails additionnels:
Multiple sources have tied the Stars as a team interested in Petry, especially if Klingberg walks. I don’t think i need to cite a quote for this one. The 3rd and Khudobin are there to make the value fair and to help Dallas shore up cap space.

  2. Choix de 4e ronde en 2022 (TBL)
Détails additionnels:
I can’t find a good quote sadly, but multiple insiders have said that instead of acquiring dead cap (I.e. Weber’s contract), they would actually rather trade for big contracts with short term that can play a decent amount of minutes on their roster to fill out the lineup. Hoffman fits the criteria of this, plus he could probably gain some value if he’s pegged with Keller for a season and he could be flipped at the deadline for a bigger return.

  1. Allen, Jake
  2. Poehling, Ryan
Détails additionnels:
This is the only trade in this AGM that I’m more-so speculating on, so feel free to reply with criticism on the value as I’m really not sure. Everyone knows that Puljujarvi is probably on the block and it’s been confirmed by insiders that the Oilers almost acquired Allen at the deadline + that goaltending is an issue for them rn, so they’re definitely still interested in him. Allen is worth around a 2nd round pick in this market and Puljujarvi is probably worth just a bit over that, so taking on Barrie’s contract and giving the Oilers a young, cheap bottom 6 forward in Poehling evens out the value imo. Let me know if any side should add.

I think there’s gonna be a few more pieces involved in the Anderson deal if it gets done but it’s giving off Risto trade vibes for me so that feels right as the main piece.

I think you’re looking at a 2nd and Stranges for Petry tho. Just don’t see that contract getting a 1st.

The only rumor i've seen linking Josh Anderson to any team was the Edmonton Oilers. Sounds like Ken Holland has huge interest in him.

Jeff Petry isn't returning no 18th overall pick from Dallas at full value i will tell you that right now. Nill wants Petry at $5,000,000 x 3 years same with Steve Yzerman you will sorely be disappointed at the return if Kent Hughes doesn't eat some money on Petry.

Josh Anderson last two seasons: 121 games, 56 points.
Jesse Puljujarvi last two seasons: 120 games, 61 points.

Just an interesting comparison. Anderson is 4 years older than Puljujarvi and is due $30.5 million over the balance of his contract, while JP is currently unsigned. Of course, one can argue that Puljujarvi's stats are inflated by playing with McDavid and Draisaitl, but even so, the Islanders might prefer a cheaper RW in terms of both cap hit and acquisition cost.

Everyone is aware that Dallas has expressed interest in Petry, but are there any links that say what Dallas is actually offering for Petry? I think that is really what seems to be the point of contention between Montreal and Dallas fans. Most Montreal fan proposals suggest that the Stars are giving up a first round pick or a top prospect for Petry and most Dallas fans (and fans of pretty much any team other than Montreal to be fair) say it's way too much.

Is there a link somewhere from a reputable source saying that Dallas has actually offered its first round pick or a top prospect like Bourque or Harley for Petry?

This isn't a "Habs insider with 800 insiders tweet". Kind of sounds like the Isle's beat writers (at least this one) are keen on sending 13th for Anderson.

I'm a habs fan who think highly of Petry (no, he did not "slow down"), but no way is he worth a top 20 pick, Johnston, Bourque or Harley.

Considering Habs won't retain on him, his value is a 2nd, A/B+ prospect and a small contract coming the other way. (A bit less than Risto's return who was ridiculous)

My call is a 2024 2nd, Dellandrea and Khudobin

I doubt he is "just a fan with a blog" as he literally graduated from the State University of New York in the field of journalism while majoring in sports management. That doesn't sound like "just a fan with a blog" to me. Perhaps he isn't a beat writer like I originally thought but he also isn't just a fan with a blog.

I have thought of a bunch of trade scenarios involving Petry to Dallas or Pittsburgh, if Klingberg or Letang leave. I have often got caught up in Montreal getting 2022 picks from those teams. I keep forgetting, though, that the 2022 draft comes before free agency even starts. So neither Pittsburgh nor Dallas know for sure that they are losing either of those players to free agency unless the Stars or Penguins front offices have already decided that they are not going to sign Klingberg or Letang

This is one of the most reasonable responses to the Petry to Dallas scenario. Well said.

If Dallas was willing to give up a first or a top prospect. The deal would already be done.

Since Dallas stiil has hope to resign Klinberg (and Pittsburgh to resign Letang, etc), teams offers must still be pretty low right now.

To maximize his return, I expect MTL to wait for the opening of the UFA market. More teams would have the capspace to compete for Petry and Hugues will negociate from a strong position with teams unable to sign a big name...It's not like they need to trade him before the draft to get a 2022 pick anyway.
