Description
I think this would be a relatively realistic offseason for the Pens.

Pettersson to DET seems to be an extremely likely situation. I personally would move Dumo instead but oh well.

Entwistle isn't worth Kap straight up but a pick added in would get the value done, Kapanen could be valuable to the Blackhawks as they look to transition into a rebuild, yes I realize Kap is older, but his ceiling is much higher, which makes him attractive to a team like the Hawks. The pens get cap relief since they wont be able to afford him anyway, and get a solid young player who can play in their bottom 6. Bigger guy too, which Hextall and Burke like.

PSA: The Heinen trade I had NO idea what the value was like. I saw some people mocking Heinen for third rounder, so I figured Heinen for a 4th round prospect and a late pick makes sense? Idk. I know OIlers fans are crazy about Savoie. Anyone care to tell me how I did on this one? For all I know im way off...

The domi signing makes sense to me. He's a bit of a spark plug, can play up and down a lineup, is a capable goal scorer, and just seems to fit that Hextall/Burke style of players they like. I think he'd do very well under Sully too. Dare I say it, gives me Patric Hornqvist vibes.

Flower coming back makes sense to me, I see lots of reports saying both camps are interested. I figured a 3 year deal brings him to the end of the Crosby/Geno contracts as well. Maybe all 3 go out together? Fun idea...

Lastly, I know everyone wants Zucker gone, but I really think keeping him another year is fine. If he's healthy and produces great, if not, you could dump him for cap relief at any point since he has one year left, and worst comes to worse you let him walk next season and use that money to re-sign Jarry. He's a solid player just has the worst luck ever. It's gotta change eventually right?

I know Letang is asking for 8mil, but my thoughts were he'd get an extra year or two at 5 years if he takes 7.5 instead.

I think this roster is decently realistic while also positioning the team very well going forward. Let me know what you think, fair contracts? Trades?

Heinen isn't an interesting enough piece to move Savoie for. I'd say it's unlikely that he'd be a target in the first place but, if he is, then the best you'd be looking at is Lavoie or Tullio.

I understand the Tullio arguement. But you'd move Lavoie over Savoie? Was a 2nd round pick only one year earlier. Unless you're just getting them mixed up haha

The Heinen trade was kinda secondary to this roster, just kinda point is Heinen is moved for assets. I just took a stab at a random team to try and gauge his value. Doesn't have to be EDM specifically. Like I said, I see lots of people saying Heinen's RFA rights for a third. That seems to be the market value on him.

I'm personally lower on Lavoie than many EDM fans so that may influence my take.

I see Lavoie's consistency issues being what keeps him from any kind of impactful career as an NHLer. In my eyes, both he and Savoie are boom-bust snipers that have varying degrees of the same core issues: skating and consistency. By the accounts of people I trust, Savoie has made progress in both in the NCAA while, by my own eye, I haven't see Lavoie make great strides in either dimension. Perhaps the biggest thing in Savoie's favour is his position. The system is pretty devoid of talented LW or L shot scoring Ws (Kane and Holloway) while the same can't be said for R shots (Hyman, Yamamoto, Puljujarvi, Bourgault, Petrov, and arguably Tullio)

It's entirely possible that this could reverse next year after Savoie struggles to transition to the AHL and Lavoie takes off following what is essentially his rookie year but, as of now, I choose to bet on Savoie over Lavoie.

You are making the massive assumption that the playoff type player in Ben Chiarot would want to go to a team that isn’t going to make the playoffs for atleast the next year.

I'd rather ANY available UFA dman in the 3-4million a season range and keep the pick...

honestly this is pretty realistic, the only thing i would change is that Sam Poulin should be and probably will be in the NHL next year and he would take domi's spot on this roster. this team is also left with 0 cap space and i believe the front office wants some freedom of cap for the trade deadline. This is very similar to my mock offseason and i don't hate your moves at all.

Very fair points to be fair. I honestly don't know much about Savoie, I just figured a 4th round prospect and late pick is worth Heinen, from what I can tell most are saying is a 3rd ish in value.
