Cut Nino's years in half.

I'd be worried about Martinez staying healthy but think that could work if Vegas wants to shed him - I doubt they're adding a first though.

Not getting into the Miller deal but don't think there's a VAN/CAR deal that makes sense

Nino ain't signing 8 years.

That miller deal OOF MARONE. Necas has the potential to straight-up be better. His floor is very similar to Miller. Look at Miller's numbers anywhere else in his career.

Miller’s floor is 50 points which is more than Necas has ever put up. I doubt he will ever score 99 points in a season

Miller is better right now for sure - not projecting out for the sake of this argument, seems like a fool's errand with the stages of career both guys are in.

Necas scored at a 48 pt pace in his rookie season and at a 65 pt pace in his 2nd season. He certainly regressed this year but I'd still argue his floor going forward would be 50 points and his pace has been right at that on avg in his career.

VAN fans sandbagging stat quotes to argue Millers value is funny. I can do the same - Necas actually had 52 points in 64 games in 2018-2019 as an 18 year old.

Miller is better now, Necas will be better in 5 years. Age is undefeated. It’s why a Miller Necas swap is so unlikely.

Pace, sure, that means Miller had had. 100+ point pace season. While he is young and a good player, they are not comparable right now

Miller had a career year. Necas had put up a 45-50 point pace and a 60 point pace. 1 was a season called of due to COVID, the other was a 56 game schedule. Let us not forget, Miller is a career average 50 point player. Necas has never had a year where he put up less than 37 points and that was in 65 games as a rookie when the season was called off. They're not comparable, but Miller isn't worth the sun and the stars. Get real. If Miller was worth this kind of return, he'd have done this as a Lightning member right? Or a Ranger?

You do realize that players can break out on different teams right? Miller is a great player who was forced onto the fourth line in New York and Tampa. Since he has joined the Canucks, he has been over a point per game player for 3 seasons.

Miller played middle six in both New York and Tampa. This is my point. Look at guys like JG Pageau and Ryan Dzingel who flourish on the top line of bad teams and absolutely suck elsewhere. That's what Miller feels like. In a reduced role (which he would get almost anywhere else in the NHL at this point) he's not the same player. THAT is the player you should be paying for, not the dude having a career year. I've said the same about Fiala

Bad take, just accept that Miller broke out. Pageau and Dzingel wouldn't be flourishing on the top lines of bad teams right now

Miller has been a point per game for 3 years. If you’re trading for a guy based on what he did 5 years ago, you’re doing something wrong. Teams wanting to compete now will most definitely be trading for what Miller has produced RIGHT NOW. Teams shouldn’t care about what he did 4 years ago or 6 years ago. They will care about how he can contribute right now. What’s hard to understand? Rentals get overpayed all the time and most of the time the rentals aren’t even good. A player coming off a 99 point season is most definitely going to have high value. What’s hard to understand?

Oh my god you're not going to get this are you. I didn't think it was that difficult to understand that mediocre players can flourish on the top lines of bad teams and Miller looks like a prime example of that. Let's agree to disagree

I can’t be bothered to argue with somebody who thinks Miller is a mediocre player. Give me a list of “mediocre” players that have gotten 99 points in a season. Give your head a shake. If Miller is mediocre, that means Necas is straight up just bad

Caniac2000 is on my blocked list.

At the end of the day, the issue isn’t the value of the players. The issue is the difference in value of the situations (age, potential, current contract status, future contract status, etc) in their totality.

A trade of Miller for Necas with additional future assets being sent by the Canes is not realistic. It’s not because Necas is better, it’s because he’s team controlled and at his lower value point. There is almost 100% certainty that the Canes won’t sign Miller long term. There are a lot of teams thinking this exact same way - it’s why he’s still in VAN.

Miller is better to sign a big deal with VAN, be a rental asset at the deadline, or simply walk to UFA.

Good thing we aren’t in the 80’s buddy. 60 point player on a good team? Says who? He put up 72 points in 69 games in 2019-2020 and the canucks made it further in the playoffs than the Canes did

72 whole points in a shortened season when the Canes were riled with injuries, didn't have Hamilton for most of the playoffs or Pesce for any of them. Great bench mark. Truly a mark of success. Send him to Colorado. If he's a 99 point player on that 2nd line, that's one thing. But we both know he won't be. Don't act like it.
