Description
Probably don't end up with so many UFAs like this, but they have a lot of money to work with this summer-- so who knows.

The goalie situation is very interesting-- do they keep Samsonov or Vanacek? Do they keep both? Do they sign a UFA starter? Do they trade for a starter? Will be very interesting to see what they end up doing. Gibson? Kuemper? Campbell? Take away one of Marchment/Mikheyev and you could make any of those goalies work.

I am glad I am not Brian McClellan with the goalie decisions...I am at a loss really as to what's best...I love your forward signings. Not high on NZ but think a 3rd pair like Cole, Lyuabushkin or Gudbrandson would be nice and cheaper. If Holtby, fine but for a million less as they'd have to have room for Wilson's 5.1 in Jan '23 when he probably comes back.

Only change I would make is putting the NZ money towards another/better forward, but this looks pretty good. Will be fascinating to see what they do this summer

Cap dump Hags and you get near the money you'll need for Willy when he comes back. Agree w/ the other posters instead of signing NZ & Holtby I would get a cheaper 3d option (Cole, Gudbrandson, Kulak) and upgrade goalie with one of the guys you have listed above.

I personally think Sammy will step up this year but don't think they can bank on it.

His $5.1m will only affect the cap by about half that value, so they should be fine after sending someone down. But next season is a different story. And I thought about Lybushkin as well, but I liked having 3 LHD/RHD here-- though definitely and option if that's not an issue to them. $4m for Zadorov does seem high, but I think he would fit with WSH. I don't think they need to waste the pick(s) it would take to dump Hagelin if his cap hit won't affect them this season-- if he were on a 2 year deal, that would be a different story.

No you're right, the Caps typically keep to the left / right balance most like to have in their D pairings but have had TVR switching when the need arose last year. Either way, I'd like them to add a 3rd pair guy with some stoudtness (is that a word?) as they have gotten soft the last few...
