Why wouldn’t the Canes just trade Bear? If that means qualifying him, then the Canes will give him his QO and trade him. They can easily get either a second or a third for him.

Like hell they can’t. The only reason he was scratched were because there were uncertainties surrounding his health, and wouldn’t you agreeing playing a potentially injured player is stupid. Bear played very well on the top pairing at the beginning of the year, up until TDA switched spots with Bear and Bear had an injury stretch along with Covid symptoms. The Covid symptoms were what really hurt his time in the lineup.

I don't think they're going to get any trade offers for him. It's pretty clear to me that they're not going to extend him a QO at 2.4mil with arb rights. Maybe someone offers them a mid to late round pick for his rights but I just don't see it happening.

Uh, healthy related concerns can hamper an assets value too you know. There is no guarantee Bear gets back to being the player you suggest he was at the beginning of last season, especially if his medical condition is still up in the air to a degree

Agreed but fun to imagine as a Canucks fan lol. Opens up space for Philly to not only add Miller but also take a run at Forsberg or Gaudreau in free agency.

Philly doesnt really need miller
Van doesnt really need LHD

This trade without 5OA is fair value but both teams just made a deeper log jam

Philly doesn't really need Miller? What if they are out of the playoff race next season? There isn't much that Philly doesn't need

Philly has a pretty decent top six that was just plagued with injuries… we could use one more guy for the 2nd line to fill in if we move JVR, but lets be honest with how phillys offseason will most likely go down

JVR traded with a pair of 3rds or a 2nd to one of 5 teams

Flyers buyout Lindbolm

Johnny Hockey signs in philly

Our lines are

Johnny Coots Farabee
Tk hayes Cam
Cates Frost Tippett
Any number of combos for line 4 with Laughton and several good young players

Our D being healthy is very solid minus Risto lol

Miller really isnt needed unless we do terrible in the UFA market

Doesn't seem too unrealistic, but that's still quite a few transactional pieces that would need to fall into place, and why does Lindblom need to be bought out?

He can probably be moved for a pick, but worst case scenario they buy him out and clear 2.7M in cap

Sadly, no. I wouldn’t be shocked if he is still not 100%. Just playing like he is in his mid 30’s sometimes

They actually get cap relief I'd they buy him out. His cap hit is 3mil but they will get 3.33mil in capspace. One of those weird buyout things for a contract signed under 25yrs old. Phillipe Myers in Nashville has the same thing.

Players under 26 are only paid 1/3 of their salary over twice the amount of remaining term on a buyout, that has to explain the cap credit, can't think of any other factor

While players 26 and over are paid 2/3 of their salary over twice the remaining term
