I think if fox wasn't the way he was Ottawa would be inclined to take this trade. Gives them a top pair RD and vet goalscorer for 5-6 years. But ya batherson has crazy value at 5 mill for 5 years, and the first rounder too is high value.

All players aren't eligible to have NTC clauses under their "UFA status years". In Fox case it's the 24/25. Just like the Tkzachuk's for example...aren't eligible for NTC clauses till their eight NHL season.
But the trade....kinda unworkable since NTC Kreider is included. Yea Rangers don't do it, and neither do the Sens. Ways too much cap taken on, and they Norris, Stutzie to sign...and more.
