don't think San Jose has given up on Labanc just yet. Especially if Boughner gets replaced given I don't think Boughner has used him well at all.

Not sure either of those Buffalo trades make sense for the Sabres. Boqvist doesn't fit a need, and since goalie prospects are voodoo they are better off keeping Portillo until they know if one of Levi, UPL or Portillo are an NHL starter.

Berniers health issues are a big concern also, Bishop costs them almost nothing so no need to get rid of the contract since accruing cap space is a non issue for them.

The way I looked at it was they need the cap space if they want to try and stay competitive which they seem to intend to do. I've seen absurd sales of Labanc and based on that I thought a 4th to save almost 5 million on a guy coming off of serious injury was fair. I only thought this because of the SJS cap strap.

Quality over Quantity no way Chicago takes that. If DeBrincat is being moved Holtz and maybe more goes the other way. And why I say that. It doesn't matter if you don't think he has that much value, but to Chicago he's most likely one of the main rebuilding pieces which is why they would need to sell high on him so they can get something great back for their rebuilding campaign.

Can't go wrong with Boqvist, he's young and Donny gets the best of youth so far, could break out. Portillo is a must-trade after not signing this year it would be a serious risk to retain him. Berniers cap hit is necessary to play the number of ELCs they have. It expires after the season which is perfectly replaced by RFA contracts. If he plays he also fills a need of an Anderson tandem, until then UPL plays.

Yeah all of these trades are a no go. MAYBE BUF accepts that Bish trade if they wanted a body in net, but everything else is not great.

If you wanted to swap all three of the former seconds for Holtz I would do that too, my perspective would be to take on those three but value wise it equals out.

yeah I mean if Boughner stays I'd definitely go for this because he's not going to utilize him well and 4.725 mil is a decent amount. I don't think this is a bad trade for San Jose because a 4th is a very fair price to get out of close to 5 mil that might be wasted on the 4th line or as a scratch. I think San Jose has a decent amount of cap space so they can afford to take a risk with Labanc. But yes, this trade is definitely better than some people thinking we're giving away a 1st or 2nd to get rid of him.

yeah no. In the eyes of GMs. Giving more quantity to even out does not even out. Whatsoever. Which is why I started with saying Quality over Quantity. I mean given the circumstances Chicago probably goes for 1st this year or next year and/or Holtz if gunning for DeBrincat. Obviously Chicago would want Hughes or Hischier, but that isn't going to happen so more realistic would be Mercer or Holtz or first round picks.

The Sabres have lost 2 NCAA players to UFA in the past like 20 years not counting Vesey who flat out said he was going UFA and they wasted a pick trading for him anyway. Portillo is not a must trade unless he has given Adams any indication that he doesn't want to play for them, which to our knowledge he has made no such comments.

They don't need Bernier to hit the cap floor when Bishops contract does the exact same thing without taking a roster spot and costs them less actual dollars because it's insured.

Sever is a solid top 4 but probably wont get a haul like all that, and LAK is good on RHD. Cat gets WAY more, 2nd overall is the starting place but CHI would want quality not quantity, someone like holtz. Think SJ still keeps Labanc, and if hes still injured they can ltir him. Buf accepts the Bish trade if they want a body in net. Think BUf declines that Portillo trade, they dont have much in net and think theyd like one of their very promising G prospects to pan out.

we're going to need a veteran goalie anyway so taking the roster spot is a bad thing, and I'd rather have Boqvist then a goalie the future plans don't have room for let alone if he'll sign. For him to have a teammate in Power and still wanna return to Michigan, never know whats going on mentally, future may not be in hockey we cant tell that

I wont respond to the Portillo portion I talked about that a bit in other responses, but Holtz swapping with the three former seconds I would agree on, it depends on a Gms preferences, value wise probably equate.. Labanc I see being sold for a much steaper pick price, personally to shed the 5 million which SJS needs to attempt relevancy which they intend to do a 4th is a steal. But I understand your perspectives

Yeah that package coming to Chicago doesn’t net you ADB let alone Murphy. Holtz, 2oa + top prospect for those two at minimum

Cat will probably need to be Holtz + 2OA as the base. If your adding Murphy then will need to add another young player or pick. But If I were you, id keep Severson and just go for Cat on his own or Fiala.

What health concerns? He had a wrist injury and had surgery and is expected to be fully healthy by training camp. The Kings did just fine while he was out.

It's literally the only time he has missed a substantial amount of games in his entire career.

lmao how? DeBrincat is barely worth the 2nd overall pick alone yet NJ is adding a ton on top of that.

By all indication of their performances when they were up with us, Zetterlund and Bahl are not "meh."

But like I said, DeBrincat is not worth the 2nd overall pick alone, so adding anything while taking on a bad contract is a gross overpayment.
