Canes pass - Marino doesn’t solve a need. If canes move Necas it’s in a package to address top 6 goal scoring winger. Not to downgrade at wing.

Not enough and not the right assets for Necas. With the likelihood of Necas being moved being close to nil right now as it seems the Canes are going to run it back, the only way he gets moved is if he is in a package for a top 6 pure goal scoring winger. Someone like DeBrincat, Fiala, or Pastrnak would be targets the Canes would ship Necas out in a package for. As good as Marino is, he doesn’t fill a need for the Canes since they already have Pesce and more than likely DeAngelo as their top RHD. 3RD might be a hole right now with Bear almost certainly being traded, but the Canes can just bring up one of Chatfield or Keane to fill that role. As for Kapanen, and as much as I would love to see Sami’s boy back in a Canes jersey, he isn’t an upgrade on Necas. Plus, Necas also plays C, which Kappy doesn’t, and Kappy has arb rights whereas Necas does not. I really don’t think the Pens have the pieces the Canes would want if they decide to shop Necas. So I think the Canes pass on that.

As for the Detroit trade, Petterson for a 3rd has been the case for a few months now.

LeBrun on Insider Trading says teams are calling Carolina about Martin Necas, he's not sure the Canes really want to move him but if the offer gets to the point where they get a young defenceman back, Carolina may have no choice but to consider it.

You have Slavin and Skjei on the left and Pesce on the right.. it has been said that DeAngelo is likely gone.. so why not bring in a RHD.

Long term we have more org depth on right with guys like keane morrow heimosalmi but left side doesn’t have much prospect wise. I think chych and Girard can both play offside too but not positive.
