Picks and Prospects during 2023 Draft/Offseason - I won't bother predicting the finishing order for 2022-23 season so I'm not putting here specific team/picks, but let's say these guys will return in one decent prospect, a late first round pick, a cap dump and two second rounders.

While understandable, I'd consider capitalizing on Petrov's value now, because seeing that Oilers is looking to contend sooner rather than later I have to assume Petrov is not going to be in their plans any time soon - and if he doesn't perform in AHL that value he has gained this year will plummet pretty hard.

I am not surprised if Petrov's value is at the highest point it's ever going to reach right now.

I'm keen to agree that his exchange is pretty bad for Jets...but I don't find Cheveldayoff the best GM around, and he could be interested in bringing a power forward along, even if it costs too much.

He's one of the GMs on the hot seat if WPG isn't about to get successful sooner rather than later.

I believe we are trying to build not just now but long term like Tampa. So the building for now thing doesn't work.
If we trade all our really great prospects like Savoie and Petrov ect. We will be destroyed. We need those cheap 3 year players.

I...can't agree with that statement. Just about nothing what Holland has done is pointing out to that direction. He's not targeting guys to fill an exact need, he's not signing guys to team friendly contacts, and he hasn't been able to build a roster that is defensively stable. That roster relies way too much on McDavid and Draisaitl - way more than Tampa relies on their top guys.

Yup Defensively stable is how we got screwed with the KlembombLarsson problem which lead to Barrie Keith. Our defensive would have been fantastic and it is exactly what we are still lacking. Holland is trading picks, not prospects. Allen will get lit up like the rest of our goalies with our defense.
Kane, Hyman, McLeod and Yamamoto were very very good for us, so saying we are relying on McDavid and Draisaitl is not a fair statement to make anymore.

I'd argue they were pretty average - if anything because McDavid and Draisaitl were so good they made those guys look better than they actually were.

I mean come on, Kane and Hyman were praised by their contribution in the playoffs score wise - yet they barely managed 50% of the scoring McDavid and Draisaitl achieved.

Put everyone of them except maybe McLeod to any other team and their production will drop, it's almost a guarantee.

Not a chance Chevy takes on that contract. Terrible value for the Jets. There’s a reason you could only find one example of a trade like that

Ok with that so why doesn't everyone excel with McDavid and Draisaitl?
A special player works good with each of them, Maroon for example.
JP cant put up points with them. Lots cant, its been years of trying. So your point is completely wrong.
Furthermore it once again comes down to our defense and fixing that huge problem.

Because Maroon is a 4th liner, he's never been a scorer. Puljujärvi is completely special case, I can't understand why he's not putting up points, yet advanced stats show that both McDavid and Draisaitl play better hockey with Pulju than without him.
