He's got a connection with Allvin and Rutherford as well. Ovi always loved playing for Bruce. I agree it's unlikely but there's enough connections there that it's plausible if he's a UFA. Rutherford has spoken about the everyday habits not being good enough in Vancouver. What better way to fix that then bringing in one of the greatest players he's ever managed.

I have absolutely no clue what they are doing in Vancity. You’d think with new management and local kid, Bedard, in the draft they’d be tanking especially with so many UFAs in 2023 like Horvat and Miller. I talk to Canucks fans and they are not confused just accepting of the fact that this team will always be mid. Just used to being middle of the pack and going for the playoff berth every year. Rutherford is not a rebuilding type of GM but I don’t think Malkin even considers Vancouver for a second. Malkin had a bunch of former GMs around the league and I’ve never thought of him as that type of player to follow management. He’s a quirky guy that seems to be about legacy in this point of his career. Playing on the West Coast would be essentially jail time to a player like him.

if you want malkin to come to van you need to overpay for him 8mil isn't going to do it.

plus also the marino trade is not fair value... forget the first.. we might add a 3rd or 4th but not even sure
