Bo Horvat is untouchable

Remove Horvat and the 4th for Miller. Better trade for both teams. Maybe Washington adds a prospect like Lemay or maybe a 3rdish round pick

Personally I think it's stupid for the Canucks to trade Miller instead of Horvat unless Horvat signs for 6.5mil or less but rumour has it the Horvat comparables are in the 7.5 - 8 mil range.

Miller is not replaceable. Horvat is. Until one of them signs an extension anything is possible and we should not be making a 50-65 pt player "untouchable" regardless of whether he's our captain or not.

I think its a slight overpay for the caps but they probably would do just straight up lapierre + first. Do agree that miller is a better fit for both teams

I don't think that Horvat is on the market. Drop a little for Miller, a little more for Garland. (no interest in Boeser)

Horvat doesn’t get 8. But yes, if negotiations are going that badly then you could trade him. I think Horvat might get an 8 year deal worth just over 6M

It'll be interesting to see what happens. His 31 goals in 70 games this year changed the narrative a bit. Media speculation on his most recent comparable to sign is Hertl who just signed $8.1x8. Other comparables are Schenn 6.5x8, Hayes 7.15x7, Couturier 7.75x8. I personally think he should be more in the Schenn range than the couturier and hertl range but fact of the matter is if he has another 30 goal season next year and goes to the open market someone would probably give him that 7.5 - 8 mil range.

Schenn range is reasonable. Id watch for Trochek this year as a comparable

Schenn is the perfect comp IMO, Hayes was an overpayment the day it was signed, and Horvat isn't as good defensively as Couturier

Im not going to deny I havent watched nearly enough of Couturier to know how good he is defensively, and I'm not going to rely on Corsi stats, but... Horvat is one of the Canucks best 5 on 5 defensive players. He isn't flashy like Garland, he doesn't embarrass players like Motte did, he doesn't even regularly kill penalties. But his awareness and his skill it blokving passing lanes is underrated crazily. Yes it's unfortunate the Canucks don't have a true shutdown center ( Every time we try it goes terrible. Beagle, Sutter, Dickinson. Gaudette couldn't spell 'defending'). I thought Couturier was slightly overpaid, despite two 70+ point seasons, but had no idea he was that good. Either way good lock for the Flyers if he keeps producing atleast 50 points a year.

Couturier deal is definitely going to look ugly in the latter years, so will the Zibanejad deal. Sutter was good despite being overpaid, and Dickinson deserves a bounce back opportunity
