So this is if Duncan Keith retires, so I put him on LTIR to simulate his contract coming off the books for Edmonton
Dallas deal - Dallas is losing Klingberg and needs a replacement at RHD, Klingberg was very offensive and Barrie plays that same role, and to make up for his defense, or lack there of, Edmonton adds a sweetener with the 3rd to even even the value a bit for a 5th
Arizona Deal - It’s no secret Edmonton needs a new top 4 defenseman, they already have Nurse and now with Bouchard’s leap to being a true top 4 defenseman last year and able to quarterback a top PP in the league, a signing of a guy like Kulak gets them a defenseman who is reliable defensively, they have 3 of their top 4, so Chychrun gives them that leap into having a very solid D core. His solid play at a very team friendly deal would cost a good bit though, that’s where Puljujarvi comes in with a change of scenery deal, he has not been very content with the Oilers and would have the ability to blossom into a top 6 forward on another team, or at the very least, be a good trade chip for the Coyotes as he isn’t signed as of yet and is still an RFA. Lavioe could benefit from a change of scenery too, especially onto an NHL roster he could have a better chance of making. Lastly, more value is needed so Edmonton throws in a 2nd and Dallas’ 5th to move the needle just enough to make the deal fair.
Edmonton still needs a 1G now tho, and a good option that could be available is none other than Ville Husso. He proved to be a true 1G on a good St Louis team this year and could replicate those numbers on the Oilers. For his contract, I just used other ACGMs I’ve seen which has him going anywhere between 3.5-4 a year. And Edmonton wants a G they can rely on and not have a chaotic carrousel like they’ve had in between the pipes for the last few years now.
Anyway, this is what I feel Edmonton could be with the right moves. If you disagree with anything, tell me about it in the comments so I can better learn how to gauge contracts and trades.
