If Petry is so good and worth his contract, why does every Habs fan on here want him gone?

This is beyond dumb so Patrick Roy was worthless as well according to your logic. He asked for a trade. Habs fans dont like that nor does management. There are many opinions that he shouldnt even show him to camp because of such an attitude. That pride has always been apart of this org. PK was traded because he wasnt deemed to be worthy of the sweater.

This isn't deep.

You do realize when a player asks to be traded, most of the time it's in both parties best interest to move on right?

and i don't think anyone on here thinks Petry is "so good". But his contract isn't hardly as bad as some people make it out to be. He's a 35-50pt defensemen who's pretty physical and can play both PP and PK. I'm not sure what people expect to be paying someone like that who plays upwards of 22min against the opponents best players on a nightly basis.

Because everyone here is a wannabe genius that would never overpay anyone but rather stick out their chest that they underpaid a player. If a player is overpaid, that doesnt make him worthless. Letang and Klingberg will be overpaid, that doesnt make them anything less of an asset especially as GMs only think about self preservation in the next 3-4 years. You'd think that winning contract negotiations was a sport with the mentality of a few here.

Guaranteed most here would never have thought about taking Dadonov's contract in a deal. Even though, he's easily digestible and will pay at the TDL with retention same as Nick Leddy. You have to be truly awful and overpaid to be worthless, even Duncan Keith got a return.

Petry isn’t a fit in Detroit and I highly doubt Yzerman would take that cap hit for 3 years on a player at the tail end of his career. Dadonov and Leddy were both 1 year deals, not 3. Taking a 1 year cap dump is a lot easier to navigate than 3 years.
Yeah Kieth got a return because Ken Holland is Ken Holland.
