Wings just trade with Vegas for Martinez for the 4th and keep the 6th.

That miller trade is horrendous

I think Whitecloud would be the perfect piece for us. Reliable top-4 RHD with size under a long term contract. He would fit with either Hughes or OEL perfectly. Vegas has no incentive to move him, which is why it would cost a lot. Miller definitely puts them over the top, but he's strictly a one year rental. If we can land a young top-4 RHD with term I think it would be worth it and Whitecloud fits the bill.

I think the market for Miller is smaller than people realize, especially with names like Scheifele, DeBrincat and Fiala all likely available as well. Miller is the oldest out of those players with only one year of team control left before UFA, where he would also be the most expensive. There are probably like 5-7 teams that are looking to contend, have the assets to trade and the cap space to fit one of those players and they would all prefer Scheifele for 2 years than Miller for one year. Vegas might be the one exception since they've shown before that they'll go all in, but otherwise I don't know if we would land anything better than Whitecloud or Marino for Miller. I would be happy with adding either one of those two and consider it a successful offseason if we did.

First off all Canadian teams are on Alec Martinez no trade list, So he doesn't waive to Vancouver but straight home to Detroit.

Miller has more character than those other players, and Scheifele isn't "really" on the market. Whitecloud would be nice, but not sure Vegas would be willing to part ways with him after they just gave him an extension

I'd want full assurances that Martinez's eye injury is 100% healed before trading for him. If I get that i'd be happy to give a 4th for him.
