A hypothetical question about Josh Anderson for next year

Description
What if Montreal keeps Josh Anderson this off season and he plays on the top line? If he has 27 goals by the trade deadline and a team like Ottawa, New Jersey or Philadelphia (i.e. teams that have said in some way or another that they want to start competing soon) sits around 6th to 8th from the bottom would they trade their 2023 pick for the remainder of Anderson's contract after seeing that he is having a "breakout year"? Maybe Montreal even includes Florida's 2023 first and a prospect like Riley Kidney in the trade. Would that be enough for an outside shot at one of the big 3 choices available in next year's draft?

Anderson is a 40 point player he’s proven that his entire career. But what he brings is more than points he’s a big guy that a great skater and forchecker. Power forwards are very rare I think Montreal can get a haul for him

27 goals and 4 years at 5M is not even remotely close to being worth a shot at Bedard, Fantilli, or Michkov

No team looking at a lottery pick is giving it up for him. Only shot would be a team like Ottawa or Anaheim having a hot streak in December and giving us a first for him only for them to implode the last half of the year.

guy is 28 years old and his very best season is 27 goals total. That was likely the best season he will ever have. its so rare for guys to get better at 28+

Well it was 27 goals at the deadline, which is on pace for 36 over a full year. I acknowledge that it has been difficult for Anderson to stay healthy for a full year!

Plus I mentioned throwing in Florida's first round pick in 2023 and another prospect, so that it would not just be Anderson for the 6 to 8 position at the trade deadline.

The fact that the move would be made at the trade deadline was relevant because other playoff teams would be vying for him, so the non playoff teams like Ottawa, Philadelphia and NJ would have to make the move at the deadline if they wanted him.

Another factor is that being in the 6th tp 8th position only gives you a 7.5% to 6% chance to win the lottery. With 20 games left in the season the team that get Anderson could improve their position and move to 12th or so.

My post was kind of a reaction to the many posts on here about Montreal possibly trading Anderson +++ to NJ for the 2OA pick (which many people seem to have many different opinions on).

If my hypothetical was crazy, that's fine. I was just wondering.

Yeah you’re not getting a chance at a top pick for Anderson.

But I do think there would be teams interested, just it’s not going to be as big of a haul as some may think.

If Mtl would be willing to eat salary, Blues should be interested in Anderson. They could use his size, toughness and speed.
