That's too much for the 12th OA. a 2nd rounder and a 3rd rounder would be enough to move from 26 to 12 in this draft class. Its all over the map in rankings. Petry alone can get you a 1st

I really liked Tatar but his value has diminished and Rem surprisingly did quite well. So I wouldn’t make that trade.

I would definitely not bring back sideshow Subban. Too many distractions.

Not from the jackets. They decline this easily

That's fine. If you want to reject. Whomever Habs like at 12 will probably be available at 26. Habs will keep the assets

Not a chance the Jackets consider that. They have a major group of RFAs that need to be re-signed in 2 years and Petry's contract would absolutely screw them. Not to mention Jarmo has explicitly said if he's trading futures it will be to acquire players that could give the Jackets ~10 years of play. Plus the team does not need more depth, it needs quality prospects so trading down would be a silly move for them.

I'd rather keep Tatar and have the expiring contract, rather than two years of Hoffman.

Jackets being a retooling team, the 12 overall is much more important than an aging defenseman who will be washed by the time we are ready to compete.

Petry doesn't make sense for any rebuilding team - he's turning 35 this year so a team that's even a year or two away isn't going to be targeting a guy like him. A contender with a need at RD is the only type of team I could see moving strong assets for him.

I also can't see Jersey downgrading Tatar to Hoffman and adding a year of term at the same hit just to acquire Rem Pitlick's RFA rights. Makes more sense to hang on to Tatar and, worst case scenario, retain some salary and trade for futures at the deadline.
