• Evolving Hockey projects Letang at $8.856M x 3 [closest comp Andrei Markov $5.75M x 3 - 14-15 Season - 8.3% of cap]
• Evolving Hockey projects Malkin's contract as $4.28M x 1 - [closest comp Ryan Getlzlaf $3M x 1 - 21-22 Season - 3.7% of cap]
• I saw another estimate that had him as low as 2.9M x 1
• I also think they should give Heinen a qualifying offer (1.32M) , this would give them time to see how their other moves shake out, and if he's offered a higher contract they could take the third round pick.

Malkin is gonna take something in the 6 range. As for Marchment, that’s a pretty low aav that you signed him to, he will fetch more on the open market.

Him being displeased with the offer has nothing to do with what he's worth. I agree with you, it seems like a low number, but the two estimations I saw were both below 5 million.

All these salary estimations were taken from Evolving Hockey. I'm not saying they're perfect, but they use a pretty comprehensive model to project contracts. Having said that, I also think Marchment will get more than that on the open market.
