I think Buffalo would be ok with this deal as long as they could move Olofsson and get a good return as well.

Its a fair trade, but Boeser's injuries always make me leery of him

I just don't see how this is a clear upgrade over VO. VO will likely be cheaper and you get similar production from both. Boeser scored a few more goals this past season, and he also got 3 more minutes per game. VO put up more points in total with less ice time. Neither are great defensively, and neither of them play on the penalty kill.

or they have the money to have both. Also ones is a left shot and ones a right shot so dont really see the either/or of it when you have this roster.

They don't have the money. Ownership isn't spending past the floor. The whole reason Olofsson might get moved is because they don't want to pay him 4.5 mil on a long term deal. Why would they take on Boeser who's qualifying offer gives him a ton of leverage for a deal that starts at minimum of 7.5 mil?

My comment was in response to someone suggesting we move VO to make space. Regardless I don't see the need for Boeser when they already have Tuch and Okposo along with Quinn on the RW. They also have several players like Peterka and Asplund who play both wings.

If they add a forward it would be a center.

What are the odds of getting a player better than Brock or as good as with the 16th OA?
Since: "Additional Details: BUF given permission to negotiate a Boeser extension before the trade" Buffalo would know the terms before making the trade.
Brock would take Hinostroza's spot, that my friends is a HUGE upgrade.
The Sabres would start to resemble a playoff team with Tuch, Boeser, Quinn and Okposo on RW with Skinner, Olofsson, Asplund and Girgensons on LW.
I would make this trade and wait for the season to start as based on historic drafts there is less than 1 out of 3 chance of getting a good player with the 16th OA pick.

Boeser is pretty good defensively, and he's more dynamic than Olofsson

Sure but how many good players have been picked in the last 20 years with any 1st round pick from 16-onwards. Because you have a chance to draft any player remaining on the board with 16th OA. Like I said, fair trade but only if Boeser can stay healthy and I say thats more unlikely than us getting a good player at 16th OA
