Détails additionnels:
I think Barrie is more valuable than Soucy, but there just isn't room on the Oiler roster for him. I think he is worth his 4.5M cap hit. Would be ideal for Seattle to retain some salary, which is why I added a pick in. If no salary is retained I would probably guess a pick comes back to Edmonton

You can't just LTIR a player if they're healthy like Mike Smith. And Bill Daly now said that even if Duncan Keith retires Edmonton is still stuck with his cap hit which sucks.

JP isn't worth his QO without CM there to run up his point totals. No thanks.

brutal trade for the Sens lmao. Joseph was sick in his short stint with the Sens last season, it's debatable if Puljujarvi would even be an upgrade. Then the Sens give up a higher pick AND have to take back Kassian and his contract? Where did this idea even come from lmao

The reason for the LTIR was that Friedman said he could be an LTIR candidate as he is pretty banged up.. Alternatively he could just retire... So it is a place holder regardless

Yeah but he should be fine by September/October when they get closer to player hockey next fall.

That's what people said about Klefbom too. I have no clue what the injuries are that are making Smith banged up, that is why this is all theoretical. I don't think Keith will retire at all, but would be nice to get the AAV off the cap

Bill Daly just said that Edmonton wont get cap relief if Duncan Keith retires the cap hit remains for another season.

We shall see on Mike Smith, If he's really that banged up perhaps he calls it a career.

Sorry, I was just talking about his standard $5.5M coming off the books... I thought Daly was talking about the cap recapture credit, so even without that credit his $5.5M could still be off the books (I believe). Regardless Daly screwed the Oilers over

Nope, his cap hit will be erased, they just will not be gifted the outlined $3.4 additional space that is stated within the crooked CBA.

This is wrong, IF Keith retires then his 5.5m AAV would come off the oilers cap. Bill Daly said that the Oilers wouldn't receive the extra 3.4m cap credit that comes with Keith because of his very heavy front loaded contract he signed with the Blackhawks.

Okay it's good that his cap hit will be gone, But yeah the $3.4 mil part is crap. Thanks for clarifying it.
