Poor return on Girard, can do much better if we trade him. Overpaying on most contracts and screwing the pooch for extensions is not a good idea.

That’s awful value on Girard, probably a little rich on Lehkonen, and Nichushkin gets signed before Burakovsky.

That's cheap for Girard but Detroit should still decline. The picks are more important to the team's future and we have enough good prospects on LD to do without Girard. Getting two cheap veterans as stopgaps makes more sense for us.

I would accept as Detroit. If too many prospects hit to keep them all, make a trade when that happens. Short term it makes us better and he is young enough that he still fits our timeline. I think you could get a better return from another team, though.
