I think he's going home tbh. He keeps making himself unattractive on the market whether it's by expressing his dislike of Tortorella or by saying he's 100% testing the UFA market in two years. He also stated many times he wants to play in a big market. I just don't see it worthwile for a team to acquire Dubois knowing they'll have to compete with 31 other teams to keep him when he enters his prime.

That would make complete sense if Montreal had any abject need for his calibre of center in two years. Right now it's a toss-up: Wright should project to be around the PLD-tier and Montreal may or may not be in the runnings for one of next year's dynamo centermen. I really think PLD's comments are more in step with some of the other verbiage we've seen come from Winnipeg this season: unless they start seriously winning, I can't see him wanting to stick around long-term a la Scheifele.

If it really is the desire for a large market and/or a winning club and/or being closer to home, Boston's still a damn fine fit. Short flight or an afternoon's drive. If he can check enough boxes and be offered enough money (an $8Mx8y deal fits him perfectly imo) I don't see why he doesn't sign for term.

2C is still pretty vacant and if you're going to fork out Kadri cash to plug that hole anyways, might as well do so on a younger player that you could ink for 8 years.
