A middle first and a 4th for a winger who had 50+ points on 50% retention seems pretty fair to me

To think that you’re trying to convince me that the Pittsburgh Penguins are going to use their first rounder that they haven’t had in years on Gustav Nyquist is quite hilarious.

Oh shoot thank you for reminding me I would probably not have signed robinson and slotted him on that bottom 6 somewhere for a 2 million dollar deal for 2 years

I mean they wouldn't have to resign rakell with this and gain veteran playoff grit who gets 50 points for them at 2 million a n d they have extra money now to sign letang and malkin so I don't see how this is a bad trade besides the fact that the pens don't tend to trade firsts

So don’t sign rakell and waste the 2nd rounder and then blow a first for Gustav Nyquist? That’s some wild logic right there if I’ve ever seen it

My man, I would absolutely adore that package for CBJ, but I am not gonna hold my breath on it happening.

Yeah yeah i guess I understand your point.

The deal would make a lot more sense if the rakell trade hadn't happened

Don't get me wrong- Gus is Mr. Consistent. And I think at 50% retention, he could be a steal of an add for a contending team.

Imo Gavrikov is ~$5 million. The RFAs all get less unless they really ball out, which can only be a good thing for CBJ. Kent Johnson would have to outperform like Svechnikov, Hischier or Hughes to get a long term contract like that. Sillinger would have to outperform Horvat, Cirelli and Larkin or look like MacKinnon or Schiefele to earn that. Chinakov would have to be a like Horvat, Schmaltz, Konecny or Drouin levels, which is doable for him but he has to have consistent minutes in order to perform like that. That's also a very postive outcome for Texier as well who hasn't really performed well as a C in the NHL yet. I can see them both in the $3 million range more realistically.

As far as D goes, I'd be thrilled to have those players earning those contracts and think that's a great D corps. Jiricek should play well next to Gavvy or Werenski. Boqvist is projected to have greatly improved so he can go in the other top 4 spot or play with Bean on the 3rd pair and generate offense like Murray/Nuti. Peeke or Ceulemans will fill out the other spot.

Jarmo has balls but I'm not sure Miroschichenko at 12 is in the cards. I like Nazar, Geekie, Kasper at 12. I would certainly be ok with picking him with that Pens first, should they accept that deal. Marchenko can slot in at his spot and probably siphons some of the available salary.

I like Puljujarvi as a complement to the pieces we have, but I don't give up Foudy for him. I would go Robinson/Bemstrom and have Foudy play with Tex/Kuraly. That being said if we get him he likely plays as a complement/safety net to Laine/Johnson.

Too much for Bean. Too little for Gavrikov. If Jiricek falls to CBJ, he plays on the top pair. I'd love to see that value for Laine but I think it's short about a mil in reality.
