Mostly just because it would be funny to steal from Toronto.

At some point Nyquist is traded 50% retained for picks/prospects, Texier moves up to the 2nd line and Chinakhov gets back in the main lineup.

He's not worth that, plus you have both Boqvist and Bean already.

If you really want to OS a young defenseman go after Hague

Paying a guy more than he's worth is how you successfully offersheet someone. RD is also where they need more depth in the organization rather than LD which is why I have them also trading Bean for Grans. Ideally out of Peeke, Boqvist, Liljegren, Grans, Ceulemans and Blankenburg they end up with their RD needs met for the next 6-8 years and then Werenski, Gavrikov and one of their several LD prospects have the Left side covered for about the same timeline.

Decline. We have way better needs and assets that we could spend that third on, let alone a 4th.

Yeah and also really no guarantee the player signs it. Offersheets can leave a bad rep on a player should he sign and leave the organization who spent time and resources developing him even amongst other teams.

Like remember before this year how many people were calling Liligren a bust without realizing he was a late bloomer.

Liligren along with Sandin dont got arb so probs will sign a 1-2 year deal in the 1.5-2mill range and by the time those bridges be up Muzzin and Brodie be gone so both guys can get big paydays.

Your team already does. The Leafs keep the lights on and the doors open. You're welcome.

Stenlund and Carlson might not be extended. No shot the ducks make that move.

I get the move on Liljgren. He has a ton of potential, but it still feels, despite the great underlying numbers, that it might be jumping a bit early on him.

Our RD needs are really for bigger, defensive D type-guys, or top-pair players - not much space in the middle. I like Boqvist, Peeke, and Blankey battling it out for T4 roles. I'd rather just use FA to go after a Rutta, Gudbranson, or Manson. I even think Holl might be a better target from TOR, since he can likely be got for cheap and is a pretty solid D.

Just glad we both tend to turn them off and shut them at the same time. It's important not to waste electricity, ya know.

The player normally doesn’t care unless the place is a complete no go. If the money and fit is right the player doesn’t care. Now, as far as Liljegren goes, I can’t see Jarmo doing this. OS should be for special players that fill a need long term. Right now the Jackets are fine and it would be a waste of assets to do this. However, if a deal comes around the requires Boqvist as a return piece, maybe Jarmo considers it. But with Cuelemans in the system and likely to be new drafted prospects coming, this just seems to early.

They don't need RD depth just for the sake of it. They need a top guy. Peeke and Boqvist are great in the right role. They're just not no. 1's. I doubt Cuelemans will become that guy either, so maybe one of them has to be moved out for a top RHD. Then maybe offer sheeting a second pair guy makes sense.
