What is he then, gets them under the cap. Really does nothing for Buffalo and his contract is back loaded. His actual salary is higher than his cap hit the last 2yrs.

No. Two busts and a 1st isn't even a grand canyon close enough.

I think this is close to what would get it done for CHI. NJD and LAK can package the best offers IMO.

Debrincat is a good player but his game is as one dimensional as they come and his numbers are inflated due to playing with patty Kane. He’s definitely not returning anywhere close to what eichel did which is what’s suggested here

You clearly don't watch enough of Cat because "one dimensional" is incredibly false about Cat. He's been a good two way winger the last two seasons and an absolute spit fire pest to the other team. He is also returning at the very least what Eichel did, but most likely more and a simply analysis would help you understand why...

1) Eichel carrying a $10M cap hit trade in season has a very limited market, teams have already set their cap for the season and can't just squeeze in $10M thus there was limited demand
2) Eichel going into a major surgery with a very gray or unknown long term prognosis (which is still there). Not many teams are willing to eat up $10M in cap space for that
3) Eichel forced Buffalo to trade him, and was a public display
4) Eichel was a UFA in 4 years, that's a lot of risk and a lot of cap space for a guy that the acquiring team only gets for 4 years

Cat has never been injured, continues to get better and better, is a RFA, a year younger, top 5 goal scorer in the league, traded in the offseason when teams can easily make cap space, and carrying a very affordable cap hit.

You just don't know Cat enough to not understand if truly available he automatically the top acquisition piece in the league; period.

Debrincat is carrying an affordable contract for this year but then what? Yeah more teams might be interested which will drive his price up a little bit but he’s not worth the package eichel got. If you watched hockey you’d know centers are always valued higher than wingers and he’s definitely not a top 5 goal scorer in the league

His qualifying offer is $9M as a RFA, which he's easily worth that. Not only do I probably watch more hockey then 99% of fans, but I also played at a very high level. Your analysis is totally off because you are missing the problems with Eichel. I had the same surgery as Eichel, a couple pro football players did as well and both players ended up retiring within 2 years post op. That surgery is a major issue for anyone in a physical sport and long term the outlook isn't good, usually resulting in revision surgery. You are ignoring all the risks (timing, surgery, and Buffalo in a corner) associated with Eichel and he got a historically very bad offer for an elite young center in the game. Being trade mid season with that huge cap hit and limited market of teams with cap space, Buffalo's hand being force, and that surgery drove his value down. As widely reported by analysis, Cat will get a package as good or better then Eichel, you don't have to agree with me or any the pro analysts, but you'd be in the minority.
