If he wasn't a Top 10 pick from four years ago I might be inclined to agree with you.

He has not lived up to his draft stock. In that regard, he absolutely is a bust.

It's still early to be calling him a bust, Many players selected in the first round are still just depth players.

i mean he's been under contract in another league for everything but 1 season. and he has been producing in the khl all this time too. other propsect who has worst khl stats like marchenko, drafted the same years, are seen like top 6 foward prospect... the kid was barely given a chance, big double standarts there. i mean he might end up a bust, but saying he is after a 20 games trial mostly on the 4th line is a stretch.

3.Kotkaniemi
5. Hayton
6. Zadina
8. Boqvist
9. Kravtsov

All of them are guys who aren't core players yet. They are still only 22. Lots of time.

Kotkaniemi - 230+ games
Zadina - 160 games
Boqvist - 120+ games
Hayton - 90+ games

Kravtsov - 20 games

I mean yeah...there's time, and I haven't denied it, but Kravtsov is still WAAAY behind of your examples here in pretty much every regard.

For now I will say he's a bust and the remaining four is still open for debate. At least they're all regular NHL level players, and I can't say the same about Kravtsov.

Not sure why you are referencing games here. That has literally nothing to do with being a bust or not. Kravtsov just went to Russia and had a monster season.

You can play 1000 NHL games and still end up being a bust if you're a 4th liner the entire time. I'd rather a first liner who plays 300 NHL games than a 4th liner who plays 1000.

This might be to facilitate a trade. It gives whoever acquires him assurance that he will be in the NHL next season. It also cost controls him, so the team who acquires him knows what he will cost.

With that said, the Rangers look like they are going to have a lot of turnover in the bottom half of their forward lineup. Maybe that helped influence him to return to the Rangers.

Well yes if you're a top10 pick and play 1000 games in the 4th line, Generally then you'd be a bust in regards to expectations.

My point is that those names you listed have at least had an impact in the league. Kravtsov has done nothing, which is critical for what he was supposed to be.

Who knows maybe he's the next Kaprizov and starts dominating at 23 and I'm forced to eat crow but at least right now nothing points to that, and I have no reason to give him the benefit of doubt. For what he has brought up in comparison to other top10 picks of close to similar age, he's been the most disappointing one alongside Andersson, who incidentally is also a Rangers pick.

certainly doesn't carry the value that all the rangers fans still think he does. Realistically I couldn't see anyone valuing him higher than a 3rd. I wouldn't want him for free in Vancouver given his miserable attitude and highhorse.

I could be wrong but, I see no reason to trade Kakko this summer. He's gonna be very affordable and he still has significant upside potential. If he breaks out next season, he'll provide excellent value on a team in desperate need of depth scoring.

This season in the KHL, according to CapFriendly:

Regular Season: 6G + 7A in 19 GP
Playoffs: 7G + 3A in 15 GP

Very solid offensive numbers. But, how do those. numbers translate and can he defend at the NHL level? I'd be curious to see. Why trade him for a 3rd rounder now? Why not give him a shot at camp?

Rangers should've taken Bouchard or Dobson at #9 and go 3/3 on D's in the 1st Round. Oh well.

good signing, but I'm surprised he came back after all of that. Prob just a 4th liner, never going to live up to his top 10 selection.

He'll get a shot or will be traded for a return that makes us better. We're not throwing him away.

Oh, I agree. It's not like his trade value is particularly high right now, so you'd just be selling low.

More just teasing on the panic from him being scratched in game 6.
