Description
I think this lineup gives us some good balance and flexibility. Malkin and Crosby on the same line would be great and we'd have a lot of center depth as well, him or Trocheck could both play second line center. Josh Anderson would also be a great power forward on Crosby's line, and Rakell and Rust also can play there. In terms of draft, like both Savoie and Kemell at 7 if we get that pick. This isn't the most likely, but I think we have to get creative this offseason. This somewhat hurts our future having to sign players to longer contracts, but balances out with a high pick in the draft and allows us to remain competitive without trading any 1sts.

No point in trading for Anderson if you’re gonna pay Rakell and Rust all that money for THIRD line minutes.

Habs pass. They arent trading Josh for a bunch of middling pieces.

He's exactly the type of player we need. And any of our top 9 forwards can play on any line. Having this much depth is a good problem to have. It would just be a matter of who has the best chemistry.

Grewe pretty much has no value at this point as he hasn’t lived up to his draft position and probably won’t ever get an NHL contract

Exactly we do need an RD but if we're dealing 7th it's for a better player. The trade is decent value but Ottawa needs a Fiala type player.

I've seen the Ottawa trade a couple times in Pens ACGMs and tbh I don't know how I feel about it. Ottawa is getting solid value there, and then there's the whole "Sens are probably gonna take a guy who was supposed to go 20th anyways" of it all. But I agree with others that the Sens probably would be looking to get somebody that moves the needle a bit more for 7th overall, even if they're getting a different 1st back. Considering I know that the Sens probably aren't targeting like, Kemell anyways, I'd probably do this as a trade day deal at the moment the 6th pick is made and Jiricek and Nemec are both already taken. If any of the top 5 (wright, slaf, cooley, jiricek, nemec) are still on the board (which won't happen anyways), Sens keep the pick, otherwise, I'd say I'd do it

Speak for yourself. I’d easily take that trade and flip Kapanen for a pick. Albeit tbh i’d rather have quality than quantity in return, but wtv i still like the idea of getting over a 2nd in value in return for a glorified 3rd line scorer who can play 2nd line .That contract is gonna hurt us so badly in a few years.

Detroit will accept but Heinen has very little value so we ask for Nylander instead, you're putting him through waivers anyway.

Personally I think both of these trades could go either way. At the very least I think both are a good starting point.
