Description
Connor Bedard is a very cool guy and the boys in the peg want a piece of his action. selling off skill to get him is the way to do it. that and they suck and have to rebuild anyways, there's no better time than right now.

Vegas trade would indeed be hilarious. I am willing to take that trade for connor within a heartbeat. Sure it is a lot of picks but sabres also have a ton of prospects

oilers have ZERO need for another left dman we have nurse-keith-broberg, and niemo, and samorukov who are ready for duty in addition to kulak being likely to sign in edmonton.

and puljujarvi is worth more than a cap dump.

You just TM'd us, that's alot of future to give up. Connor is good, but could hurt us down the road. Got a lot of young players we still need to sort out if they are ready or may never be, need to keep the flow in the system Going

the amount of rebuilding the jets need puts their timeline after Connor, Ehlers, PLD, etc. all the guys that should be going/gone also have either an NMC or NTC so just sending scheif or wheels away because they suck is easier said than done.

I don't know that it's that much future. Olofsson is a year older, Mittelstadt is 2 years younger. The picks will not be NHL ready for several years at the earliest and Buffalo would still have their 1st and 2nd this season along with multiple 2nds next season. Connor had 93 points this past season, and has 4 seasons over 30 goals, 26 last year in the shortened season. He's signed for 4 more years at a pretty reasonable cap hit also given his production.

So 2 1st might not be ready for 7yrs, you could be right. But this draft is so out of wack with rankings that those 2 picks could be a huge part of the Sabres future. Connor is a good player like I said, just better make sure it's the right move at this time.

To me it would be. It accomplishes a few things. It helps further solidify the top 6 and also alleviates the potential headache of 4 top 9 centers and 3 slots for them. It gives you a player who plays in all situations and does so effectively. It also doesn't remove any of the guys who most see as the core moving forward (Cozens, Krebs, Quinn, Peterka, etc etc). They still have a deep prospect pool, and numerous picks the next 2 years to further add to that pool as well.

The problem with what TM did was that he traded almost every decent prospect the Sabres had at the time, along with most of their picks. They didn't have a deep prospect pool back then to begin with and had a lot of bad picks because of the video scouting they decided to try out which clearly didn't work. He basically wholesale sold off the future for a couple of players and none of them were gamechangers like Connor.

Skinner-Tage-Tuch, Connor-Krebs/Cozens-Quinn would be a hell of a top 6 in 2 years, and would still let you roll Pertka-Krebs/Cozens-Asplund as a 3rd line.

It's all a pipe dream anyway as the Jets would never trade him I'm sure, and they would expect more.

It’s probably not the right move, but the OP retained 50% (making CK a 3.5M player for Buff). I think he could be instantly flipped for more then Buff is paying to a contender if Buffalo also retains 50% (making him a 1.75M hit for 4 years on a contender.

I like Connor, and would really think hard about this and agree with Funks about a deeper pool of prospects. We just don't know what we have yet.

I really love Ehlers but this feels a bit too much

Formenton, Alex : this guy has much more value to Ottawa than people know/think
2023 1st round pick (OTT) : no protection?
Thomson, Lassi : still easily worth 1st round pick value
2024 2nd round pick (OTT)
Murray, Matt : no need to really trade him, most likely ends on LTIR

If you change Formenton for Jarventie or Sokolov, then I am interested. Don't include Murray if necessary

Mittelstadt was a top10 pick who’s looked good when healthy
Either he has 1st round value or we aren’t moving him
Same for goes for Olofsson
No reason for us to sell low on either of them

Not moving value of FOUR 1sts & a 2nd for Connor
Not unless that’s Connor McDavid

ok so my evaluation

In order of value

2022 1st round pick (VGK) : 16th OA pick
Olofsson, Victor : 1st round pick value
2022 1st round pick (FLA) : 28th OA pick
Mittelstadt, Casey : early 2nd round pick value?
2023 2nd round pick (PHI) : 2nd round pick

I think the difference in your evaluation is regarding Mittelstadt. He will turn 24 y/o at the beginning of next season. Yes he was a Top-10 pick but that was 5 years ago... I don't see a team offering more than a 2nd round pick to acquire him right now (not saying the Sabres need/want to trade him)

It's a good package because that Vegas pick is not as late as it was supposed to be but Kyle Connor is a premium winger. He's an offensive dynamo who just had 47 goals and 46 assists for 93 pts. He's 25 y/o, signed for 4 more years at a reasonable 7.14 AAV

I would give up :

2022 1st round pick (OTT) : 7th OA pick
Brown, Connor : 1st round pick value+ (prospect/2nd)
Lassi Thomson or Jacob Bernard Docker : 1st round pick value
Brannstrom, Erik : early 2nd round pick value
Gustavsson, Filip : 2nd round pick value

Yes Fiala would be a lot cheaper than Connor and a pretty good second option.

Look at this, the last 5 seasons (since Connor plays in the NHL)

https://www.nhl.com/stats/skaters?report=scoringpergame&reportType=season&seasonFrom=20172018&seasonTo=20212022&gameType=2&filter=gamesPlayed,gte,5&sort=goalsPerGame&page=0&pageSize=50

9th best Goals Per Game average... he's among the elite

Fiala is out of the top-75
