Should the coach have been fired? Who knows. But I know he became the scapegoat for Don. They should have moved on from Sweeney. My thought now is they moved on from Cassidy because they have already decided the direction of the team. They are rebuilding and going young and the thought is Cassidy isn't great with young players. Does Bergeron really want to come back to this mediocre team after surgery and with a new coach? my guess is he retires. I also wonder if Pasta has any desire to sign long term here. I'll work with the thought that he wants to leave in free agency so Don is forced to trade him and really tank. Fluto Shinzawa on the radio this morning all but confirmed they are looking into trading pasta. This team is now a bottom 10 team and in the hunt for a top 5 pick.

Firing Cassidy is such an odd move. Why in the world did BOS trade away so many picks AND extend Hampus (WITH a NMC) if they're rebuilding. The only thing I can think of is that Bergeron himself wasn't a fan. If bringing him back and potentially even Krejci...ok then it makes sense. I don't think it's rebuilding time just yet.
