Description
Looking further down the line, it becomes pretty clear NYR are gonna have a choice to make between keeping Chytil or Copp as their 2C. You could replace Chytil's cap hit with Copp's but its impossible to have room for both LT.

After a couple of seasons with a few deep runs (and a few cups), Schneider is ready to take over Trouba's role as 2RD. You can change Anaheim's name with any other up and comer needing a steady Stanley cup veteran presence on the backend with some cap room. ANH could be a perfect fit.

You can replace a lot of the new kids cap hits with veterans costing the same thing but bottom 6 i gonna have to be a mix of good kids and cheap vets.

Keep in mind that we'll need to sign Shesty to a new contract the year after (at least +4M extra cap) meaning we'll probably need to ship out Goodrow (or Panarin's) last year of contract

what you're saying does hold water...until the summer of 2024- when his NMC becomes a M-NTC. Depending on a rubix cube of factors between now and then- the most significant being the development of Nils and/or Schneider- there is a real good chance he is moved to have the CAP to spread around to guys off ELCs.

What's really going to be interesting is their plan going forward with Shesty...again- depending on several factors to unfold over the next few years- is Shesty a guy they look to move? Supposedly numerous NHL execs really like Garand...and in next Shesty contract he turns 30 in the 1st year. Nothing would surprise me here.

Shesty should be 29 when his deal ends which means hes getting an 8 year extension

Exactly my point...depending how Garand (or others) continue to develop...there might better options than investing in a monster contract which takes a player to 37 years old...and don't forget- the assets they could bring back trading him in Summer of 2023 or 2024 would be significant.

Why trade a goalie who brought you to the finals in his first full season?

Gee, why do guys make a post and long narrative and then try to justify by trading a NMC from a Cup contender to a non playoff team.?

Actually it's no really a good trade for Ducks either. Just spend 8m or so on a UFAm and keep that first rounder.

Not at all looking to trade him. He's much of the reason the team is in the position it is in- at the moment and as a franchise. But that said- every team has to continue to develop...and the cord has to be cut with every player at some point. As unthinkable as it is to move Shesty- I'm sure it was just as unthinkable a few years back in MTL before they extended Carey Price. So of course if none of their G prospects continue developing nicely- their path is kind of clear. But if one of these guys look like the next "Hank" or "Shesty" -then the team has a big decision to make.

I don't think that's the answer... you are seriously overpaying both Laffy and Miller. Great players, but they get bridge deals for now. 3million for Miller (same as Lindgren), 4million for Laffy. Kakko is even too high... depending on when you give him that contract. Ultimately everything should be based upon when Trouba and Kreider's contracts expire. As others have stated, he's pretty immovable. Especially if you don't take on money from his contract, too.

If you pay Laffy, Kakko, and Miller on lower bridge deals, everything should be fine. You are also giving Trivago a raise to sit on the bench...? This is a weird one

Honestly I see potential for a Panarin trade following next year.
Lafreniere will still be cheaper... same with Kreider.
Moving Panarin, around his 30/31 years point makes more sense than all of the above.

It's the Bread man that moves on... to another young upcoming team similiar to the Hurricanes last few years. Carolina , while division rival, might be perfect for Panarin to play with Aho and Svechnichov.

Stop with the Trouba trade crap, Like it or not you're stuck with him for 2 more seasons then it goes to a MOD-NTC the exact same time when his Wifes residency is over. And she officially becomes a Dr somewhere.

Agree on the Panarin thought. Love him, but if you could save cap, it might be better. This year's Trouba is setting a tone that's built for playoff hockey. Wouldn't be in a hurry to trade him.

Agree stop with the trades of.... but don't like the "stuck" with him.... that's much better description of TB stuck with McDonagh for next 3 or 4.
Trouble is a huge part of NY blueline.
Doing exactly what he was brought in and paid for.

You do realise this a simulation for the '24-'25 season, so when his NMC becomes a MOD NTC

I might be a bit on the optimistic side and take into account a really good next season for both Lafft and Chytil but if that happens, these deals are not overpayments, they might be really good deals in comparison to league comparables. Miller is an absolute beast and if you can get him on that deal, you have to do it in a heartbeat. Keeps your window open for the next 5-6 years at least. Who care about the Trivigno deal, it kind of misses the larger point I'm trying to make. You can replace his name with anybody else or shave off 300k (won't change your cap outlook by any means)
