What I would consider terms;
A year or less - Rental
2 or 3 years - short term
3 or 4 years middle term
5+ years (9 being the longest allowed) is long term

So i mostly agree with this but the reason for this question is i was having a disagreement with someone whether jake debrusk has term or not. So i put it to the CF community to decide.
THIS. This right up there. Its term. Its either term, or no term. Does Jake debrusk have no term?

You’re not getting this. The purpose of the discussion was binary. Term, or no term. There’s no long term. There’s no short term. There’s no bridge. Its just term, or no term.
Ok does mackinnon have no term? (he has 1 year left)
At the conclusion of his season, he no longer has term. I guess it doesn’t really matter since this entire discussion is in regard to trade market, and he wouldn’t be traded until conclusion of play anyhow, so correct, he doesn’t have term.

Mackinnon has no term left even though he has 1 year left? I think a basic underatanding of the english language would tell you thats impossible.

Well, we’re talking about players under contract, so the scale kind of starts at 1 here. Term implies there is a contract. No one has a zero year contract.

Right so mackinnon who has 1 year left would have term according to you

No. Beyond the minimum amount is considered term. 1 is the minimum amount. Its the zero in this binary system we have here. I can’t believe this is still being discussed. Its just the way it is man.

Then it's a stupid, pointless discussion. Have fun.
