Description
Nucks declined this trade without the 3rd, so lets say the pick brings it across the line, The team is less of the issue so NYR fans I know that I will get the "We dont want Miller, we have Copp" I know. I am just using this as a holding piece. This is more meant for Habs fans.

Ok, Habs fans, congrats on the 1st OA pick.
What would we have to add to upgrade from Lundqvist to Barron?
You guys need a bonified PPQB and that is Lundqvist's specialty at the expense of his Defence.
You guys also have a whole bunch of defensive defensemen on the right side and could use some help moving the puck and could add assets in doing so.
I am not saying that this is all we'll offer, but what would the cost be to exchange defensemen, you also have your own 1st rounder coming up who can be a defensive defenceman

lets keep CapFriendly friendly

thanks

It is a very pointless trade. I think MTL likes Barron more.

See for the canucks we are looking for more of a barron type but there isnt many of them available and you guys have lots of them and I was more wondering what it would take to trade Lundqvist for Barron. what picks would you need to make it work

Well, they don't have Nils to offer because the Miller trade is pure fantasy.

habs would trade Barron, for a Barron type of RD. I think the habs would rather Barron than Lundqvist and i dont see any picks moving the needle. Unless Vancouver throws something crazy in there and i dont see why they would.

I don't know if its a matter of picks or not. Barron is a good D prospect. Lundqvist is a good D prospect. Lots of Habs fans proposed trades for him with Lehkonen going the other way. It depends who Montreal likes more and how much they like that player. Gorton and Bobrov likely know Lundqvist quite well, so they might do a straight swap or might not be interested at all.

Honestly, Habs probably have zero interest in trading Barron. They are incredibly short when it comes to RD prospects with any hopes of becoming legit NHLers (Barron, Mailloux). So if you're suggesting a Dman swap, unless a team is willing to offer a RD that's already established and is what MTL are expecting Barron to become, Habs will just hold on to him.

Only legit way I could see him being traded, is if he is moved to fill out another position of need greater then at RD.... and for the Habs I'd say maybe at Goalie or LW. Even then, RD is arguably a greater positional need.

would you do DiPietro for Barron? Mikey will probably be a backup 23-24 and a starter 25-26

Absolutely not. DiPietro isn't better than Primeau. And RD is a bigger need for them than G and LW, I'm not sure what that poster is trying to say.

doubt it, the goalie coming back would need to project better (by a strong margin) than Primeau currently is. Both so far are in similar situations (struggled with their short stints in the NHL, and mediocre AHL stats)

I agree they arent the same type, and i think when you go through the crop of you dman coming up in MTL Barron is the type of RD they really needed to add. From the rumours that come out after the Lehkonen deal, Hughes wanted Barron specifically as the main piece coming back I think management is very high on his potential.

That's why I wrote "RD is arguably a greater positional need". Goalie and LW are also positional needs for the Habs. My point is if Barron would be traded, it would be to fill one of those needs. Example: If MIN offer the Habs Jesper Wallstedt for Barron (They wouldn't btw..) At that point I believe the Habs would pull the trigger, regardless of their need at RD.

I can agree that it would appear that way, but there were serious problems around the team at the start of the year but his back half the year he was on fire

You’re right it is fantasy as the Canucks get a much better return than a 3C, an okay RHD prospect, and likely late 1st

More fantasy by Canucks thinking they can trade cap to cap strapped team. Not sure why the Rangers would need Miller anyway.
