I’m feeling a next goal MacKinnon live bet if he doesn’t have one after a period or two. Especially if the Avs are down by 1 or 2. +155 pre-game odds to score any time weren’t great. I was also disappointed the Palat SOG line was 1.5, so the over was like -190. Need to find a betting app with same-game parlays for the NHL lol

But isn't the play supposed to be blown dead when the goalie's mask comes off?
In all seriousness, I have no idea what the rule is but would have not liked it if it didn’t count ( for either team) as the puck was clearly going in regardless. It’s possible it’s like the rule where if the net comes off but the puck was going in anyways it’s still a good goal?

Broadcast said it was legal because it was a "continuous play sequence" resulting in a goal.
My take:
Had the shot gone wide or was blocked, for example, and then players try again with a new passing-shot type play - that "discontinuous sequence of plays" - would have been blown down for the mask.

Bad rule then IMO ... not the refs fault in that case, but just saying.
Idk what the rule is with whistles after goalie injuries. I think the rule SHOULD be to stop the play in that case, but I don't know what the rule IS.
Yeah that’s the rule and it cost Dallas the cup in 2019. The Blues run itself was very fluky that year, the refs helped them vs both Dallas and Boston (Bozak slewfoot which gave them a game).
My coach when I was 10 would’ve eviscerated me for taking a weak flippy backhand shot like that. I can’t believe that went in on an NHL goalie in the Stanley Cup final lmao
