Detroit can live with this. Zadina just needs to add some effort to his game and he could be better. Montreal can take that chance

Detroit declines. 3 more years of Dvorak at 4.45 mil AAV? 33 points last season. Career high 38 points. No thanks.

Danault most goals in MTL : 13

Danault goals in LA this year : 27

Dvorak played in Arizona then MTL. He would be better offensively elsewhere.

in 56 games. The last 3 seasons his 82 game pace is 46 points while being a premier faceoff man.

Habs would easily decline that. Zadina is nowhere near as good and has not taken a major step forward in several years.

Pace means nothing. 38 points is his career high. If he's so good you wouldn't be peddling him.

I think it's worth a swing if Montreal is also including a prospect like Mysak in the deal. Dvorak is movable if he doesn't work out, but I can see him being a 45-50 point 2C on a line with Suter & Raymond, and Mysak is a boom-or-bust prospect that can make this trade a big win for the Wings. I think it really depends on if you think Zadina has another level to his game or if this is it and he tops out as a winger who gets you maybe 40 points a year and is due for an RFA raise himself.

Why would Carey leave 31+ millions on the table? No chance he retires

Dvorak's game doesn't mirror his point totals but I guess that's just my opinion. Mysak is a potential 2/3C as well.

I'd do it if I were Detroit, but I respect your opinion.

I think Detroit probably accepts, though I am not up-to-date on Dvorak's concussion issues. Healthy Dvorak > Zadina and Mysak > 4th round pick. Zadina still has the most potential of those pieces, but another season of waiting to trade him could reveal him to be a relative bust, turning him into a 2C is the better option. A healthy Dvorak solves our 2C problem for a few years at a reasonable price. I doubt Mysak ends up as a 2C, but I think he should end up as an everyday NHLer.

MoreHitzSeider just pops in to every thread involving Detroit to say Detroit declines and that no player in the league is a fit for Detroit while never posting a single roster himself.

Of all the players, Carey would be one of the most likely to leave money on the table.

He spend his summer fishing and hunting, and would love to go live with his family in BC or Washington state.

Pretty sure he saved enough money for the next 3 generations of Price. He's not a spender.

Zadiniemi isnt worth anything close to what Wings fans think. He'll be a throwaway soon enough. Keep Dvorak, a proven asset with good 5on5 production and faceoff prowess. Worst comes to worst you can trade Dvorak at the TDL for a better package than this!

My guess he tries to give it a go, plays under 20 games next year and calls it a career. Picking up that puck after the win vs Florida to end the season should tell you a lot!

Meanwhile Radek Faksa cant break the 20 point barrier yet gets paid 3.25million. Calling Dvorak overpaid is hilarious! Dvorak is twice the player of Faksa

Dtown is desperate for centers. They cant bluff their way out of a need at the 2 hole. Dvorak would instantly improve his stats playing with a talented winger like Raymond. Mysak is a good prospect, I wouldnt move especially for Zadina AND giving up Dvorak, no thanks!

ok was there any athlete who left that much money on the table before? What's the point of retiring when you could just be LTIRed?

Anyway, if he does or not, it doesn't change much for Montreal, they are filthy rich (Molson, Habs, Rocket, Evenko, etc). Insurance would also pay 80% of his salary on LTIR

Can't see him retiring when he could just fail contact clearance at training camp, then go fishing while collecting cheques.

What you're saying would apply to 99% of the players. But he would still have to meet doctors and team staff, and talk to media once in a while.

If i was him, i wouldn't leave money on the table. But it's Carey Price we're talking about.

Like you say, he could go on LTIR and it wouldn't change much for MTL anyway.

Calvin "Megatron" Johnson comes to mind. Not really going to break my head over thinking about another athlete but Carey is a different cat. He lives off grid in the Summer and comes from Anahim Lake, BC in the middle of nowhere. I lived in the Peace Region a little further North of there and it's a different mindset.
