Drop Dylan Strome and the Hawks still reject.

The value is a tad too low on the Leafs side of most of these trades.

Strome is worth at least 4 mil at this point.

Really confused on where this "Wood won't get qualified" narrative keeps coming from.

Fitz specifically said that Wood was the type of guy that the Devils really missed from the lineup this season. They've got a tone of cap space and are unlikely to spend to the cap so much so that they can't afford a 3.5/1 contract.

Also not sure why Wood would be taking a 1.5/1 deal in Toronto when his health is such a concern. He's going to want term.

I don't know why everyone is under the impression that the leafs will have to give up a first and a blue-chip prospect to get rid of mrazek. It will take a second or something of similar value

A couple insiders said there's a good chance he doesn't get qualified. But it wont be surprising if he does.

I will give credit to Dubas where it's due. He does indeed to a very good job at getting out of jambs that he puts himself in. Ritchie was a good trade. Dermott was a good trade. It's entire possible that Dubas can get out from under Mrazek. I think it's FAR more likely he buys out Mrazek. The single closest comp to Mrazek is actually Brett Connolly, BUT a few notable differences.

A.) While the general population of Capfriendly says the Hawks won...us Hawks fans aren't exactly thrilled about doing it again. I was hopeful that Borgstom would pan out better than he has, but also....the Hawks Specifically already have too many "budding prospects looking for NHL ice time"
B.) You have Dylan Strome included for some reason?!?! I know Bowman 100% messed up DStrome's situation, but he's been a .9ppg whenever he played center for the Hawks.
C.) There are a number of differences between Connolly and Mrazek. Connolly is a liability that can be hidden on the 4th line for 7 minutes a game. Mrazek unfortunately has to be a liability for 60 minutes a game. Mrazek's cap hit is higher. Mrazek's salary is higher. So dumping Mrazek should cost more than Connolly.

No he wasn't. Bowman totally messed up Strome. Once he acquired Strome...he got 51 points in 58 games. Then Bowman drafted Dach and decided that Strome can't play center anymore. Let's just rush Dach to the NHL before he's ready! Moving Strome to wing was the dumbest moved (on the ice) i've seen made since they tried to force Kaner to play center. Once Strome got back to his top 6 center...he got 41 points in 46 games.
