Bergeron retires tank for Bedard

Description
Move into the 1st round then trade up with a team willing to move. The center depth in this draft is great. Then cut some fat, get some young talent into the lineup and slug through it. Resign Pasta for 8×9mil. With the recent signings, the only way this team can be competitive is with good young talent and we either need to draft it or find it in our depleted farm system. With Marchand out until at least early December, I see no reason to try and coast until he comes back and try to claw our way back up the standings. The guys who get roster looks are in under scratches, which is why the bottom of the lineup looks depleted.
And I swear if any of you say "*blank* declines" without providing a constructive alternative I'm gonna puke.

if youre tanking you need to Dump Pasta, Carlo, McAvoy and Lindholm. This team misses the playoffs but isnt close to last place

Why would Ottawa make that trade? They move down at least 21 picks in the 1st Round, move up about that many picks into the late 2nd round, and they're expected to accept this deal?

This is an immediate rejection from the Senators

LA won the draft lottery to move up from 4th to 2nd place. There roster was significantly worse, they had 1 20 goal scorer, that year was also the 1st time Doughty's decline was noticeable

If Kane does leave we have Holloway and we need to re-sign Yamo and JP and Debrusk's 4 mil would hurt our chances of signing them both

You’d need to add significantly in order for the sens to pick up their phone on this…

Probably Carlo or something

And you’d still make the playoffs lol
The idea is there, but you’d need to make about 6-7 more trades in order to be a lotto team and that would involve several big names getting moved

The problem is that a team with mcavoy and lindholm on the backend is just going to be too good to tank.

Because thats a great deal for them. 25 year old 25 goal scorers for 4M don’t grow on trees.

Because doughty and kopitar were playing poorly. This isn’t a 30 year old mcavoy who’s starting to get some injuries and having down years.

Picks #30 & 64 do not get you picks #7 & 86 - you need to add something fairly significant (early 2nd round value-ish) to make that trade worth Ottawa's time.

Also it's Mike Reilly for a 3rd, not a 2nd, even if that 2nd is only like 15 spots ahead of the 3rd. We have standards around here.

This ACGM in a vacuum is exactly what is wrong with this section...

OP says "And I swear if any of you say "*blank* declines" without providing a constructive alternative I'm gonna puke"

But then manages to propose this :

BOS
2022 1st round pick (OTT) : 7th OA pick
2022 3rd round pick (BOS) : 90th OA pick

OTT
2022 1st round pick (EDM) : 29th+ OA pick
2022 2nd round pick (COL) : 60th OA pick

There is absolutely no constructive alternative that we can provide. This is just a stupid proposal. No other way around it.

I think one should only be able to ask for "constructive criticism" when they are able to do a little better than that.

1 20 goal scorer 4 guys at 17 or 18. total goals scored for that team: 177 and it wasnt a full 82 game league year.
bruins this year had 253... take 25 from bergy, take 25 from debrusk thats 203. everybody elses numbers will dwindle because theres no true 1c there. if this scenario happened bruins wouldnt be that far off from last in terms of goals scored in the league. Worst in the league goals wise was Arizona with 207. Based on a center group of 1c Haula, 2c coyle, 3c studnicka this team would be terrible.

I would never trade a 7th OA pick for a late first and two second round picks. There would need to be a very specific reason to do that (like you absolutely hate a whole draft class)

You never know when will be the next time you have the chance to draft that high. Sens have had high picks recently during their rebuild, but before that and after their last "tanking draft" in 1996 following their expansion (picked Chris Phillips 1st OA in a weak class), they only had the 2nd OA pick in 2001 (Jason Spezza 2nd OA but it wasn't even their pick, that one was gifted by Milbury in the Yashin trade) and the 6th OA pick in 2011. It took until 2018 to have another Top-7 pick with Brady Tkachuk at 4th OA
