Description
If we are out of the Playoffs by the deadline, then we look to move Compher, Schenn, Garland and maybe Myers. If we are making a strong push, we can possibly use Carolina's picks to add at the deadline, ideally a defenseman.

I don't think its as much as people think it is. A 1st + a pretty good prospect is the requirement for Miller and with an extension another piece as well. Miller is easy to squeeze in next year for a Cup run and would probably be the best player available this summer (Scheifele is younger with more term, but Miller was better than him this year). Colorado gave up a good RHD prospect a pick for a middle-6 winger in Lehkonen, a 1C with an extension should definitely get more than that.

Carolina probably wouldn't want him extended because they'll have cap problems in 2yrs. I think Carolina is not going to offer what Vancouver could get so Miller will go to a higher bidder

Please explain your logic on the COL trade?

Compher at 3.5mil with one year remaining is good value to COL for what he provides.
Can play anywhere in the middle 6 (C and wing), kills penalties, can fill in on PP, some playoff production.
Makes zero sense to move him for this package (Ferland IR, Highmore fringe NHLer and a 7th rd prospect).

Fair enough if they don't want to meet that price, but considering how their offense performed in the Playoffs I think they'd at least be open to acquiring Miller.

Pure cap dump. Ferland goes on LTIR and Highmore is just a cheap depth forward thrown in. McDonough is a prospect throw in who they can possibly sign before he goes UFA or maybe not, doesn't really matter just a throw in. I think Compher is the best option to clear cap given how many young, cheap forwards Colorado has.
