Description
Bergeron is old enough for some easy to attain performance bonuses if 5 million isn't enough for him to come back for one more run. The details of the DeBrusk, Reilly and Gryz deals don't really matter, its just to clear space.

Take out OEL and I’m all for it.

The debrusk and grzelcyk trades are bad value for Boston.

No Lysell, No Miller. They're also not gonna tank Miller's value by packaging him with OEL

Mark Stone isn't a center and has never had the offensive production like Miller. He's gonna cost a high-end prospect and a 1st at the bare minimum.

It's been the Isles' 3rd (#77 OA) for Mike Reilly for so long that I almost didn't think we could do the Isles sending their 2nd (#60-64 from Colorado) for Grzelyck, so I think I gotta say yes.

(this is my awkward way of saying you're undervaluing Grz but if I was Lamoriello I wouldn't say no to some charity)

Oh, lets not be foolish here. Stone was a far more valuable asset.
1. He was just better. Getting hart votes, couple runner ups for the selke. More of a goal scorer, better defensively, much more physical.
2. Younger. What was it, three years younger?
3. They pretty clearly worked on the contract extension before the trade.

And Miller can't play the defense Stone was playing at the time of his trade.

the difference is stone was going to walk away no matter what, this was their attempt to recuperate assets, Canucks can still sign miller, and might, but they arent offloading him to prevent him from walking in FA

Grzelyck is fine but I think his dad works for the organization so I doubt they trade him. Reilly isn’t good, he is highly dependent on the guys around him and normally plays sheltered minutes.

Ya with the retention on OEL here it's basically OEL for Coyle (I'd prefer OEL but wouldn't argue someone preferring Coyle) and then Miller for a 1st and Lohrei. Miller will get more than that.

Charlie coyle is an Alex Kerfoot level player with a bad contract.

Even after trading miller, Canucks still have more holes at defense than they do at forward. Swapping OEL for coyle makes no sense for the current roster

Don’t see any difference. Pending UFA without a contract playing for a bad team…and the guy is about to cash in near the top of the league. If they’re trading him its because they can’t retain, or don’t want to retain his services. Same as with stone. The only difference is stone was worth more.

mark stone's career high is 64 points, he played a full season yet in his 10 seasons in the NHL.
miller is faster, at a better point of his game and only missed 2 games this year (covid) and 3 games last year. In his platform year he had 99 points.
Stone had 4 3rd place, 4 4th place and 7 5th place votes, he was not in contention for the hart, someone needed to put something on the ballot.
better defensively? sure, but offensive forwards return far more than defensive forwards

They can retain him, they could push for the playoffs this year, this isnt the TDL, this is the summer before. I am sorry but you are way off bud, you obviously dont watch western teams all that much

Over his last five seasons, mark stone is a grand total of one point short of a point per game. Over the same stretch of time, miller is 34 points short of a point per game average.
His career high is actually 73 points.
Why hasn’t Miller gotten these high vote totals for major awards if he’s so much better? Is it a conspiracy?

Sure. We’re talking about a scenario where they trade him…implying they either can’t retain him, or don’t want to.

Comparing him to the Stone deal might sound fair, however Stone was traded away by Pierre Dorian of the Ottawa Senators. They aren’t exactly known for making good moves
