I don't think Dadonov waives to go to Vancouver. Supposedly he wouldn't waive to go to the Ducks due to the taxes in CA, and BCs taxes are higher than CAs I believe.

Thought this was because the Ducks were rubbish when he submitted his list, he signed the contract in Ottawa so I don't think the taxes would be any different

Calgary should be the team adding, Poolman might not even come off LTIR...

It would be Vancouver's second instead of Pittsburgh's, Vegas could match, offer sheets never happen and trading with Vegas and offer sheeting them in the same offseason would be a weird move. Could merge the 2 deals into 1 if anything.

Calgary isn't taking on Poolman though. Because if he does come off LTIR his contract is horrible

Are you a Calgary fan? This was actually a proposal I saw from a Calgary fan on another thread. It would probably cost a 1st to dump Lucic, whereas I don't think it would cost as much to dump Poolman. This trade isn't necessary for the post and the Canucks could take on a cap dump like Lucic's and pay someone else to take Poolman instead for the same effect.

Why would it cost a 1st to move Lucic? His contract is beautiful for a bottom feeder team next season and he is still 100% an NHLer. Give me an example of a similar player costing a 1st to move

I chose the cost of a first round pick based on the Marleau trade, although having looked into more recent examples a 2nd might do it. Complicating things is Lucic’s no trade clause which allows him to provide a list of 10 teams that he CAN be traded to, which might easily rule out teams like Arizona that could use his cap hit to reach the floor. I also didn’t realise his base salary is only $1m so perhaps a 2nd would be realistic. (https://flamesnation.ca/2022/05/29/calgary-flames-sean-monahan-milan-lucic/)

I also think Poolman could be moved for a 2nd or 3rd, and could be moved in exchange for a player with a higher cap hit on a team looking to compete next season. Potentially for a player such as JVR, Zucker, Hornqvist etc if not Lucic.

Could possibly add Poolman for Zucker to the Penguins trade.

Why do people always bringing up Marleau as a baseline for cap dump trades? That trade isn't remotely comparable. Marleau refused to play for any team but Toronto or San Jose, had a full NMC and was a 35+ player. So he would only waive his clause if he was 100% being bought out. And because he was over 35 the buyout was at his full cap hit, not spread over multiple years.

Looch's base salary is also 875k too since Edmonton retained 12.5%

I dont think there is any remote chance Poolman returns a 2nd. He is a 3rd pair defensman with 3 years left at 2.5M. Just Holl only has 1 year left, is better, cheaper, and probably at best returns a 4th

I meant I think it would cost Vancouver a 2nd or 3rd round pick at most to dump Poolman, which they could recoup by taking on a larger, expiring cap hit such as Lucic

But that doesnt make sense because it cost the exact same amount to dump Lucic. 2nd at most. So its a 1 for 1 at best value wise but Calgary decline simply because they need to move the full cap without taking any back

So we agree the value is equal… Maybe Calgary finds somewhere else on Lucic’s 10 team trade list to dump him, maybe the Canucks send Poolman somewhere else and take on a different cap dump for the remainder of the season to compensate the pick they gave up. Who knows? Who cares? This is only my AGM and my proposal

Im not entirely against the value no, I think it's similar. I just disagree with Calgary having any remote interest in Poolman. I would rather loose a 2nd than take him on
