Jason Spezza, Marc Staal, Kyle Clifford and Wayne Simmonds will retire rather than play anywhere else- they get called up and down throughout the year and play and mentor Marlies players while sent down to the AHL

Toronto needs to offload Mrazek badly, Buffalo needs a goalie and would definitely take a pick and prospect to take on his remaining 2 years and Toronto would value a player coming back in that trade at a reduced rate plus Girgensons would provide some depth and grit

Toronto needs to find value in free agency- Offering players like Ho Sang, Cousins and Fasching more opportunity to play with skilled players could be a good incentive to take discounts and see who works out and who doesn’t

Trade Justin Holl to upgrade Top 6 forward position- Seattle Head Coach Hakstol loved Justin Holl and Holl had his best year under Hakstol coaching defence. Seattle is going to be looking to improve and Holl offers them a solid 3rd pairing RHD in return Toronto adds a forward that didn’t work out in Seattle but has had great success in Colorado in the past at a reduced rate
