Seriously. Rather just keep Olofsson. Similar production, similar minutes, similar ages.

Also underpaying Olofsson, he more than likely gets 4 - 4.5/yr

If you assume that Sammy asselin is worth a 4th, then buffalo is trading olofsson and a late first for debrusk and a late 2nd. Of course no.

Quick add- I bet he gets 4.5-5, maybe a bit more if the Sabres wanna throw some cap at their one rfa that's worth something. I wouldn't go much higher than 5 though, if we actually do end up trading him, I don't want his contract getting in the way.

It's not worth much. His play 5v5 improved last year, especially after his upper body injury healed.

Absolutely not from Buffalo
U can keep DeBrusk, or see if someone else is interested
I’m quite sure that we wouldn’t be - not at that price

it improved but most of his 5v5 production is assists. 10/32 vs 17/31 goals vs total points at 5v5. even strength production: olofsson 13/36 debrusk 22/38. ide rather have the goal scorer when all other things are equal. thats solely this year as well.

its funny you say "keep debrusk" because i actually would rather the goal scorer in this scenario. we have plenty of set up style guys. not enough pure goal scorers like debrusk is. bruins get worse making this trade.

Have you not seen how well Victor Olofsson can shoot the puck? He has one of the best sniper level shots in the game when he is healthy. Last season we saw his game continue to develop beyond just being a shooter. He spent at least half the year playing through an injury that affected his ability to shoot the puck. Once he got healthy he caught fire again. DeBrusk may provide some physicality that Olofsson does not, but I don’t think he gives enough for this to be considerable.

Olofsson is a goal scorer as well
He’s not a set up guy

But cool, if you’re happy with DeBrusk, then u can keep him
Bc i don’t see any way the Sabres would do this

did you see the 5v5 and even strength stats above? they played almost the same amount of time in both scenarios and debrusk scored more goals. olofsson had almost half of his production on the pp. debrusk has almost all of his production at 5v5 or even strength. bruins dont need any more pp heros. they need guys who can score at 5v5.

cool never said he wasnt. but i want the guy who puts the puck in the net more at 5v5 and even strength. i value that more as a fan. idc about pp. you SHOULD be scoring at 5v4 if you can remotely shoot the puck lmao.

Olofsson is no longer just a “PP specialist”

For example,
This past season:

Olofsson- 20goals, 13 at even strength
That’s 65% at 5v5

Pasternak- 40 goals, 25 at even strength
Are u unhappy with his 62.5% number of goals at even strength?

17 of Bergeron’s 25 goals were even strength, 68%

Taylor Hall had 20goals, and his 13 at even strength were the exact same as Olofsson’s

Soooooo……

Metrics are funny. When you think about it, if you have a guy who scores 25 goals a year and 6 of them are empty net goals, another 10 are on the power-play, and the rest are even strength do you really care how he got those 25 goals? Were any of those truly meaningless? I don’t think so.

none of those players were included in the deal. like i said boston doesnt need any more pp guys. im talking total production. youre 5 pp1 players for boston are bergy, pasta, marchy, hall, mcavoy. olofsson isnt getting pp1 time in boston like he is in buffalo. so his 7 pp goals and 13 pp assists are instantly lower.

in the above trade scenario only... debrusk is a better 5v5 and even strength scorer. it doesnt make sense for boston to bring in a guy who is worse at doing that. idc how you slice it. 38 of debrusks 42 points were at even strength. 36 of olofssons 49 were at even strength. knowing that he isnt going to be on the pp which guy are you taking? imo debrusks numbers go up a bunch if he gets pp1 time. if there was a hole and we needed a pp scorer ide welcome olofsson and agree with you. but theres no PP hole here. so youre entire point about % is moot. thats not what we need. we need even strength scoring.

metrics mean alot in a certain setting. olofsson isnt getting pp time here so those 10 goals are maybe 1. so instead of 25 goals a year hes got 16. vs debrusk had 22 or 23 i forget the actual number AT even strength. idk how many were ENG but that 100% matters to the bruins right now. if there was a PP hole then no it wouldnt as much. but when you need even strength and 5v5 scoring. you naturally factor pp goals out of that point production equation.
